Damn right I love cheap gas. I feel for people in the industry but they should know that if that's the field they choose to work in. Money in my pocket is a great thing.

The decline in the O&G business will eventually spread through the entire LA economy. doesn't matter that you don't work directly for a O&G company, that business required a huge infrastructure. Two of my friends in the Lafayette area are a pediatrician and a orthodontist, their practices are falling off rapidly, people are leaving the area, and braces are becoming a luxury item. real Estate values are falling regardless of what you do for a living.

I'll be glad to sell you all the gas you want for $3.50 a gallon.

Its 2% of the nations economy and the extraction portion of O&G is only around 1/3rd of that. most of the refining sectors are just fine.

You're happy paying above market rate for gas just to keep people employed? Yes, or no?

I'm contracted to do work in a nursing home and actually got a small raise this year; husband is a farmer and well, we all need to eat so he hasn't been negatively affected so far (saved $30,000 in the fuel bills last year).

However, just found out my brother in law who was a land man for a long time for a Lafayette company has been laid off. Sucks.

Seems legit. Hire him to grocery shop for you or have him do your job for half the pay.

Mention guns frequently and your husbands police record.

Yeah, way to look at the bigger picture.

One time this happened to my parents when I was a teenager. A guy knocked on the door looking to do any work to make money to pay for diapers because his wife/gf said he couldn't come home without any. He washed the cars and my dad gave him all the diapers we had left over from my youngest brother.

Uh, I just did. Cheap energy is good for the world.

Do you think we should pay more?

Not are cities are taking as big of a hit.

Dallas economy is booming, homes are selling on average in 21days, with little to no concessions, and for more than list price.

Yup. I can afford to pay a little more for gas, so I wouldn't mind. I drive a truck that gets 10mpg at best and never cut back on buying fuel....even when it was costing me $175 to fill up. The company I was working for laid off a large amount of people because of oil prices, and now I'm having a rough time finding a new job because of the same thing.

How much more would you be willing to pay per gallon in order to help sustain O&G jobs in the area?

Personally, I'd pay 2-250 ... after almost 3 and 4, that seems "doable". Especially if it helps sustain jobs.

same thing here a few weeks ago. young guy walked up in my yard looking for work. referred him to a couple of people I thought might be looking

last year I gave a couple a bunch of scrap iron I had lying around the property. think they got a couple hundred dollars for it - back when metal was high - helped them keep their electricity on

Then you both should support my proposal to add a 25 cent tax to gasoline. It'll save all of the O&G jobs and yet you won't have to pay 2.50 at the pump.

Good for him for doing whatever it takes.

Assuming of course he's sincere.
People like him will make it.
