Seriously. A guy (never seen him before) and his son just showed up. Talked to my husband outside and said that he was a crane mechanic making $20 an hour and got laid off. He's knocking on doors looking for work. Seemed like a decent guy but we're not in a position to hire anyone.

1). Breaks my heart as I'm such a softie

2). Frustrates me regarding those who sit, collect money and don't even try.

Times are hard and I feel for these families affected.

Sounds like bs to me. I would think a mechanic makes more than $20 an hour

Thought about that. I'll trust things will be ok.

Son was maybe 12? While I wouldn't bring my kid with me if that was my plan, there are lots of reasons he could have been with him.

But every a-hole and their mama is happy about cheap gas. A lot of these people getting laid off haven't looked for work in years.

I always let my dogs "greet" these folks and go to the door looking crazed (my natural state) holding some imposing object or another. Casing-job complete. Next.

The last time I hired a guy like that he did a shitty job and then pruned my neighbor's house ala Beavis and Butthead and Mr. Anderson. No joke.

You mean places like...I don't know...the world?

Oil is the lifeblood of this planet's economy, baw. DWI.
