I just received a email that the commission will be voting on a toll increase on Aug 10th. Is there really a chance they won't vote for a toll increase? Come on this shite needs to stop. This might be the most corrupt organization in the state and that's saying a lot. I heard on the radio today that they have 19 million in the bank for improvements that's been sitting there for years. The C spand was able to eliminate tolls but the causeway has to keep increasing them, something ain't right.

For what cause? Thought they already handled the cause of the Causeway...

They want to add railing on the southbound bridge and bring the both bridges " up to the 21st century".

1) This is not new news.

2) Did you see where a vehicle went over the railing today? What if that were you or your family?

3) Why can't you afford a dollar more per trip? Small price to pay for what we have here than what is across the bridge.

Do you cross the bridge everyday and support a toll increase ? I doubt it.

It pisses me off they want to do things that will cause more deadly accidents... adding a shoulder to the span is asking for trouble. You don't want cars getting reamed from a texter, dozer, or drunk because people are pulling over to stop for whatever reason.

No I didn't hear wrong. They said to go online and request specific information and you will see for yourself.

I have a toll tag in both of my vehicles. No, I do not cross every day but I did it for three years. I do cross it twice or so a week and was ten minutes ahead of this morning's accident as I had a meeting downtown at 8am.

Ever check their balance sheet? Whenever this happens, it usually resurrects the age-old argument that it's just to keep politically-dependent employees employed, and/or give raises to the Causeway high-pockets. Discuss...

If you're for it, I'm for it.

I just wish the Causeway would be more transparent in their bid process.

but you would rather a car drive on a flat for five miles to a crossover? Think about that.

I prefer we dig a moat around the Northshore, but that won't happen.

I do think it was awesome that the officers rescued the driver this morning so quickly after the truck went over board. The officers deserve raises, all of them as far as I'm concerned.

I am not up to speed on the budget, but not opposed to a dollar increase to eliminate the recent rash of vehicles going into the lake. The traffic is obviously at an all-time high, which will not create anytime soon.

19 Million is barely a drop in the bucket with you are talking projects of this scale in Transportation. I have a hard time believing the causeway bridge would even be built in the first place circa 2016.

Eventually the southbound bridge is going to deteriorate to a point to where it isn't usable the same way it is now and it is going to take a unfathomable amount of money to build another one. The Northbound bridge will probably last another couple lifetimes.
