re: So Lakewood Church was initially too damaged to take flood victims

He is doing the same thing many (not all) churches and other religious organizations have done for thousands of years - he is actually just a bit more honest and open about it.
This whole thing is dumb and it said it in the article - don't send people to a huge complex which isn't equipped to handle refugees - let them go to established locations which have been figured into a logistical and supply plan and are equipped for this.

I think the Trump situation showed us there's never a right time for that message to come out for some people. It's either too soon or too late. If they had to get their facilities safe enough for people to inhabit, then whatever. It's open now, so good news.

I know I very well may be cherry picking here, but I thought it was funny that during the Good Morning America interview this morning, Osteen made sure to stand in front of a gigantic pile of clothes, towels, diapers, and other supplies. Just to the vicinity of left, you could make out a clear space/wall backdrop.
Coincidence or did Osteen chose his backdrop wisely?

Needed time to doctor the photos.

Those aren't doctored. It is much more likely that it was a post-backlash sabotage than some photoshop job.

these attacks on osteen are solely because of the media's anti-christian agenda. lot of people here dislike osteen because they see him as fake. media and left don't care. they see him no differently from any god-fearing southern baptist minister and will treat him with as much hate.

Could be. But the producers of those segments typically plan out the backdrops, so it's very possible they decided that setting as well.

Well, that's generally the idea when people talk about doing works. Wasn't trying to necessarily direct that towards you.

Looks like water in parking garage and storage areas. Hardly enough evidence for vindication. At this point he's just trying not to take too big of a hit on 3rd quarter profits.

If you believe in Christ, miracles happen of course

It would be absolutely hysterical if photos surfaced of Osteen while holding a fire hose flooding those areas of the church.

Like I said before, the ignorants lashed out. Stupidity amongst certain masses is a well known phenomenon.

You do realize that there just might might have been enough water to make it unsafe to house flood victims yet not enough to be considered catastrophic by any means? I know you, like the overwhelming majority of the OT, are utterly ignorant of the difficulties and complexities of disaster management but at least try to be objective and reasonable.

Why would you let people in while you are dealing with a mess and not sure if more water was going to come in? Too much liability at that point.

Once the Twitter backlash started and the media was putting out requests for interviews, they quickly fixed "the problems" and certainly started bussing them in...

After what happened in the Superdome and the Convention Center, he would be a fool to open his church without the assurance of police control.
Also, just curious, how many smaller churches in the city of Houston opened their doors?
How many critics of Osteen in Houston and the nearby areas opened up their homes to a displaced family?

They certainly didn't "suddenly fix" anything if you actually looked at everything posted on this. Amazing how these types of stories bring out the gullible and easily lead.

That's my theory. I don't think flooding/damage was an issue.

Well, if you have that kind of platform, you're the example and you're going to get the most scrutiny.
