Article about it

Though this story has spread like wildfire in both social and mainstream media over the past few days, it has become obvious that Osteen's Lakewood Church was in fact too flood-damaged to initially take in flood victims.

Seriously quite sickening when people spread negative news without knowing the situation. This is the situation of our church

I heard somebody that worked for the church say it was because all the streets were flooded and there was no access. He didn't mention that they flooded. I don't know what to believe.

Osteen has kind of set himself up to be an easy target, and I've been super critical of him in the past, but hey, this is the facebook age. All you need is a graphic with pretty words and people will believe anything. Glad they were finally able to open up to people.

How are they going to find the money to rebuild that church?

That's just the Joel's multimillion dollar water feature they took pictures of.

A pastor living in a $10.5MM home in River Oaks doesn't sit right with me, but the criticism of Lakewood Church in this situation seems pretty ridiculous.

Because the entire area is dealing with a pretty big natural disaster. Shutting up the bored house wife facebook brigade is low on the priority list.

After Katrina I don't know how I would feel about letting people stay at my property that I don't know.

Maybe if I decided who I could let in, but of course people would freak out about that.

I always hated this guy anyways, but this isn't a very good reason to.

He is a pawn.

Osteen preaches "prosperity gospel", basically if you're a good Christian, God is going to reward you with money, the right job, no problems in your life..........none of that being in scripture, mind you. But him living in opulence is a good image for people who buy into that.

This. It was just low hanging fruit (fake news fruit) for the religion bashers to swing at.

It is a tad bit sketchy that they took a while to say they were flooded. Earlier they mentioned it was a logistics issue, and that they never closed their doors. You'd think that kind of interior flooding would have closed the church, but who knows.

Don't know if you saw his interview this morning but he had the biggest shite eating grin on his face the whole time he was attempting to explain his church's situation. It was sickening to watch.

Have you never seen Osteen? I think he had himself surgically altered so he'd always be smiling like that. It's all he does
