My neurologist ordered it to see if a fusion is a viable option for my back. I've got three disc that could be the issue. If my pain comes from mainly one disc, then surgery is an option. If my problem is all three discs, then as he said "the fix would be worse than the problem.

Sounds like you got Jeep Seat, Troop.

come on man. I'd rank the pain a 4 on a scale from 1-10. And I had to get five discs injected. I really hope you never have to undergo any actual painful procedures

The pain is not bad unless you've got problems or an injury with a disc. It takes your normal back pain and makes it intensify on an unbelievable scale. But for it to do this, you've got to have some damage or degeneration in your disc.

Basically, if it doesn't hurt that bad, that means you don't have serious back issues. Which from the sound of it you didn't. Lucky for you.

You need to seriously consider getting off that bike.
A minor spill may have serious consequences for you.

Nice bedside manner

Would rather that than the over the top under statements.

I have a fairly decent tolerance for pain, and often forgo prescribed pain meds.

One surgery they stated would have "mild soreness" required hydroxycodone and help to get out of bed the first few days.

Sorry to hear that you are in such pain.

To cheer you up, I think I may send you a disc-o-gram...

Wait till tomorrow and the next day. Then you'll really know pain.

Unfortunate you underwent something so painful that's also pointless.

Agreed

But at least the stone pain eventually goes away. Back pain just goes on.. and on...and on.

Darth, when you recover give the inversion table thing a try. It has helped me immensely, especially when after a tough day in the yard ( or whatever) you feel that pressure starting to build.

I have an almost non-existent L-5 to S1 disc so I literally "feel your pain".

Well I'm about 12 hours past the procedure. While the pain is nothing like it was while they were injecting dye into three of my discs, which by that I mean it's not an insanity inducing level of pain where you'd gladly die just to make it stop. My back still hurts like its never hurt before. What worries me is they told me this pain could last up to a week or so.

That sucks.

All this probably wouldn't have happened if you didn't ride that air-cooled dinosaur....
...Now if you had a V-rod instead you could use that water-cooled rush of power to help re-align those vertebrae like I do...

They offered to give me a Percocet after the procedure but I declined. Not out of any sense of toughness but rather due to the aversion I have of pain meds after I had a really bad reaction from Vicodin years ago.

This. Simple, affordable and works great for me too. A physical therapist suggested it, and it is the best thing I've ever done for years of disc issues.
