Big difference between built her own hoiuse and contracted and assisted in having her house built. And all with no money.

You could tell from her background something didn't smell right

You really can't tell a lie this big looking for fame and fortune and not get called out on it these days.

I think people just expect people to lie and are numbed to it. Look at Wendy Davis for example. As big of a fraud as there is out there and she was elected a state senator in TX.

I think you meant to say they made a ugly sign and didn't build a house.

House looks like one big arse rectangle .. Doesn't exactly take a master builder to build a frickin box..

If I can't figure out how to do something YouTube typically is my first stop.

That's the thing. She claims that her and her children built a 3 story house complete with cinderblock foundation but yet couldn't figure out how to cut an "O" for the sign?

If it took her since 2008, 9 years isn't that unbelievable to build that for an inexperienced person.

They definitely had to have someone come pour the slab

They weren't trying to reinstall a carb on an old Briggs.

I'm not saying you couldn't theoretically build this home with unlimited time using YouTube, but they sure didn't the way they said.

No. She claims that her, her 17yr old son and 15yr old daughter put the entire house up in 9 months in 2008. Then it every pic she provided none of them are actually doing anything. She has her hand on a block but is clean and not picking it up. Her kid is on a ladder but not really doing anything. He son is holding a nail gun but it about 2ft away from any piece of wood. They're fooling with concrete yet they're all clean as a whistle. Something just doesn't add up here. I poured concrete to set 12 fence posts and I looked like I took a shower in white dust. Also keep in mind this was 2008. Youtube was still a young duckling in the how to video world.

Good for her. Good for her for no mention of all the people she banged to get it done.

Seriously, good for her.

Code people would've eaten her lunch every five minutes if she was learning how to build a house that big on the fly.

she could've at least half-lied and said she built half the house. This is some grade A BS.

Naw. There's lot of shite I can learn on YouTube and "save money." But once you calculate the cost of the time you spend trying to learn it, the supplies, and the waste from the inevitable frick up, you'd get hired. For me, if it is a novel home issue, I do YouTube it, watch a few videos, then calculate the pain in the arse number. Within a few minutes I've made the decision one way or the other to hire a pro or not.

The more disposable income I make, the more likely I hire a pro so I can just sit around telling myself that while I didn't save money on a pro, I got the best pro for the lowest price after 3 hours of internet searches. Am I lying to myself? yes.

The saddest part is the number of people that believe a poor broken family built a 2 story house in 9 months by simply rolling up their sleeves and watching some videos.

Sadly she will make a ton of money selling books to people who do not have enough sense to see the bullshite. God damn this makes me sad.

I don't know how accurate this is, but here is a discussion regarding the estimated length of time it takes professionals to build a house. A number of commenters with houses similar her size (3500 square feet) had an estimate from 6 to 9 months. Building Time Estimates

So she able to do that the same length of time as professionals? So while professionals probably have more labor, considerable mir to experience, aren't learning on the job, and are less likely to make errors that require time consuming repeats, they still can only complete projects in about the same time.

Not to mention the 3 older children were often in school (so she had to work alone with a 2 year old), plus all of the work it takes to raise a family.

And she mentions coworker so did she have a job then too?

Finally, given that she moved in March, then they roughly worked from the beginning of May 2008 through the end of February 2009. Well there was no shortage of days with signicant lengths of time with precipitation, which would only delay the process.

It just doesn't seem to be close to plausible.
