My wife and I have known her since 6th grade. Everyone loved her in high school as evidenced by the fact she raised just over 10k from our class. Hell, two people in our class are professional fundraisers and helped raise her money for free. There are some very pissed off classmates.
The incredible part of this story is how she got caught. Her Dad thought there was a conspiracy by a couple statewide elected officials, including the Luv Gov, to keep a 17 million dollar judgement from her. So, he reached out to a reporter that's been on a crusade to expose corruption in AL government. He happily jumped into the case with great zeal and uncovered this shite instead.

yeah, that is why I linked the AL Reporter story instead of AL.com - much more in depth
my wife's friend who donated knows her kids (their children attend elementary school together)
she was personally solicited by the woman, " know you gave to the gofundme, but we have an issue and need help with THIS..."
so, I can only imagine what "lifelong" friends got from her in regards to personal begging
the AL.com story also mentions that this is about $38,000
add in $460K over 3 years to the parents (who knows what they gave the 4 years prior) plus whatever other moneies she received from personal begging - this dollar figure is likely well over $1 Million
