Save for the super brands like Sub-Zero and Viking. The cheaper the unit, the more reliable it will be.

Kind if a contradicting statement.

This is what I have. Still hate it FWIW

Agree 100%, I have a LG Frenchdoor style with the ice in the door and really don't like it. Hardly no freezer space and the shelves are all to short.

She wants input. She'll get what she wants (probably $400 over what she wants to spend) but you know how women want you to show interest in things you couldn't care less about.

I looked into Sub and Viking.
Underwhelmed with performance vs price. If its a retrofit you'll need a special circuit dropped down the wall.

We bought a counter depth LG and it works fine.

ice maker is an issue, though...you can't really put it in the bottom freezer

We have the ice maker in the bottom freezer - no problem.

I have a French door, samsung with bottom sliding freezer. Didn't get the water dispenser bc it tacks on another 3-500$ depending on the model and it's pretty unnecessary. Really enjoying it

Fridge on the top is the shite. No bending over or getting on your knees to get stuff of the bottom shelf. Freezer doesn't hold as much, but an upright freeze in the Util room solves that problem.

Depending on the model you get with the freezer on the bottom it's really not that much less space. and you learn to stack things. I was not sold on the French door model with freezer on the bottom but that is what the wife wanted. Samsung model and it's been great so far, more than enough room in both compartments.

Just lack of room in the freezer

Why? Is yours running?

ETA: I did not read the OP or any posts.

I have no advice for you.

French door bottom freeze. You can get them with ice and water in the door if need be.

I went from a bottom freeze to a french door side by side and I fricking hate it with awkward storage.

We have a traditional side-by-side. (BTW- French door refers to the newer style units where the refrigerator is on top with double doors, not with fridge on one side and freeEe on the other)

I think my next one will be a new one I saw recently. It is a French door style, except instead of freezer drawers, there are two bottom compartments with doors. One of them is actually convertible space which can be used either as freezer or additional refrigerator space. That feature was cool but what I liked best was just that he freezer compartments had doors and not drawers.
