We as humans have made some very fascinating things since our existence. The power of our creation is very limited though. We are though intelligent enough to understand that before we created something, there was nothing. Therefore, it is logical to apply that same rational to EVERYTHING IN EXISTENCE

Doesn't sound like the God Christians worship.

I like how people are celebrating on here like this theory somehow validates the Old Testament or something.

David Hume warned us about these things. Believers and those wimpy agnostics would start infiltrating good atheistic sciences, perverting them for their own agendas.

this doesn't sound like "God" to me

Honest question, why not?

Does it sound "too mechanical" for the usually spiritual belief in God?

Possibly think about it like this: Regardless of the idea of the "kind" of universal intelligence, this "being" has to understand the underpinnings of the human existence innately. The way that we've grown, evolved, HOW we do things is all tied to the ability to determine a "ruleset" from our universe. Even the simple idea of logic "If A then B," like "If I touch a fire, I get burned," is a consistent rule that we have to develop both instincts and tools to work around. These require a a further exploration of rules and ideas that allow us to solve the problem. Solve the problem....within the ruleset of the universe. A rule is essentially a limitation, right? Our entire existence and evolution itself is about finding and breaking perceived limitations over and over again. That's growth. But the only way we are allowed to grow is because the universe itself does "make sense," it's governed by rules that we can determine, understand, and work within to continue growth.

If there were no rules, we'd be completely inept at determining anything. So God in this case, or a "being" in another, is almost required to create a ruleset for existence.

Now the interesting thing in this debate is Kaku's use of the word chance. That's extremely telling to how he views this question. And on that note, he's right.

And one answer for both: It doesn't fricking matter.

Interesting that you'd say that. Why do you think it doesn't matter? It's only the most profound question that we've tried to answer since the dawn of mankind.

Who created the virtual reality simulation we're all living in is one of the most profound questions since the dawn of mankind? Huh?

I think, in the minimal chance that we are in some sort of simulated game similar to what Elon Musk was talking about, then it doesn't matter to us who created it and who is "playing" the game. We're here either way, so in this particular case, ignorance is bliss.

I don't believe any of that, by the way, it's just another possible explanation for some sort of intelligent design.

I like this, simply because we have too many arrogant know it all "science" arguments these days. Both sides should be debated and respected.

No problem with that. Where I part company is the premise that this intelligence is a middle eastern monotheistic deity.

I love how this thread is suddenly full of insecure athiests who feel they need to belittle everyone who doesn't share their worldview.

You hypocrites realize no where in his ramblings he mentions Jesus Christ as the son of God. No where does he prove your beliefs are right.

and that is fair.

But also not part of anything Kaku said.
