Supervisor Malia Cohen introduced the legislation targeting flavored tobacco products because they are typically marketed to vulnerable populations including children and young adults, African Americans and LGBTQ people.

“It’s no secret that flavored tobaccos are considered by many experts to be starter products,” Cohen said today. “They taste good, they mask the harsh flavor and they make it easier for people to start a lifelong habit.

"The federal government continues to abdicate its responsibility to protect public health through its ongoing attempts to roll back health care access," she said. "It is the right and the duty of states and localities to ensure that our communities are healthy, solvent, and safe. This legislation achieves this goal.”

So vulnerable here means people that don't take self responsibility. It's always someone else's fault

Glad they're fixing this and not their massive petty crime problem.

I always preferred the wine flavored cigarillos. Just the outer layer nah-meen.

Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but isn't this a flavored tobacco product?

I would love someone to point blank ask her at a press conference why she thinks African Americans and LGBTQ people are "vulnerable" and can't possibly resist these flavored tobacco products without help from the government like other people apparently can.

Follow up question to whatever nonsense she spouts: "So you are saying that African Americans and LGBTQ people are similar to children with respect to their ability make choices from themselves, correct?"

More projection by the far left.

They're so clueless they don't realize they're just as prejudice as the people they condemn.

Seems like an easily winnable case by the tobacco companies. Over-reach for selling a perfectly legal product.
