In these kinds of wars in this day and age, the country being invaded always wins in the end (especially if that country has an armed civilian populace).

Some of the posts in this thread are just ridiculos.
At this point in time, and likely for the next 20 years or so, the only country with the logistical capabilities to invade and sustain an occupation on any part of the globe (that is no just an immediate border) is the US.
Military capabilities, NCO corps, manufacturing capabilities, etc all still favor the US so greatly any nation looking for a direct conventional war with the US is suicidal.
