Eh. Most of South LA is a swamp. It's a direct result on inept and corrupt city government.
Posted on 8/7/14 at 4:50 pm to Winkface
And, of course, that never helps

Yep. Lakeview is a swamp. Floods like crazy when it rains too. I've never lived there but was in that area daily for 5 years and had/have friends who live there.

Complain to the Mayor and city council. Oh yeah, they are not a real city. I guess that is why it sucks to be Metairie.

Come on Winkface, lol, Lakeview is probably right next to Metairie then right? So you can't say I was that far off. It's not like I was saying Lakeview was in Gretna or somewhere like that that's not even close lol.

The streets were shitty in Lakeview before Katrina too.
They were shitty 40 years ago.
Welcome to New Orleans, where they only fix things the tourists might see.

You just disrespected every Lakeview native.
You can always tell the people from Lakeview. They ALWAYS talk about how they live in New Orleans and have to get the point across that it is indeed New Orleans. Then they shite on Metarie, but I guess everyone does that already.

see Old Money's post.

Then why are the streets OK in Metairie?

And the Metairie people shite on Kennahbrahs and the Kennahbrahs shite on people from LaPlace. It's the circle of life.

The Metairie ridge, better soil, better voters???
Posted on 8/7/14 at 4:59 pm to SaintlyTiger88
It's Metry brah, and Lakeview is in New Orleans dog.
Old Metry is like Lakeview except they aren't close to the lake.

The main reason the steets suck is because the ground sinks. The main reason it sinks is because the storm water drainage set up in Nola proper pumps water out rather than allowing some of it to be absorbed. Jefferson parish has a much better system.
yes the area is subsiding
no it has nothing at all to do with storm water drainage

Lakeview was built on possibly the worst soil conditions in the city many years ago. Soil, drainage, and other conditions play into the degradation of the streets just as the lack of repairs.
Lakeview had its appeal just after Katrina when property was cheap, now you would have to be insane to purchase there and endure the streets, taxes, higher cost of simple things like a water bill, insurance, lack of police presence, and so on.
Metairie offers many great areas with better politics thus better infrastructure.

It makes everyone drive slow so they don't injure the children.
Yes, I'm fricking joking. However, I have heard this as a positive.

I live in Lakeview, refuse to buy a new vehicle until I move out. Or at least move onto a major street which has decent roads. The stretch from Canal to Jefferson Parish north of the interstate is brutal.
Posted on 8/7/14 at 5:32 pm to SaintlyTiger88
Algiers has roads that are even worse and a lot of the stuff I see is because they S&WB does such shitty repairs.

Even better in Kenner.
As soon as the road cracks they fix it.
