You need to relocate to a bigger estate that doesn't have a HOA.

Glossed over the part where someone had to peep over the fence to even see the pool was green?

Im sure his story glosses over a few facts as well.

Likely was one of the widows neighbor reporting her to the association. HOAs field request all the time from direct neighbors reports each other.

Did any of you catch where I wrote that the nazi bike bitch had to look over her fence to see it? She has a 6' iron fence lined with shrubs, 6' tall, and if I didn't notice it, there is no way the hall monitor would without "looking" for something.

My original point was HOA can be good and bad. I appreciate the rule set and was trying to convey when things can be bad, in certain situations. When you have people in place that think they are more powerful than they are, you get these type situations.

And don't give me the "be on the board" talk, because I've been there and done that. Was miserable to sit there and listen to these people talk about my neighbors in an unprofessional manner, and I said as much and my tenure was short lived.

If you don't want to be decent and help a fellow human out, and treat her with dignity, then that's on you, no matter how you spin it. My goodness, this is not a fiefdom I live in!

I'm no stranger to douchebag neighbors getting in feuds and turning each other in for HOA violations. I was getting ready to turkey hunt last year and saw a neighbor at 4a.m. on the golf course going around the perimeter of our neighborhood with a flashlight looking into people's yards for violations because someone had turned him in

Boats and trailers not being visible from the street is pretty standard as far as HOA rules go.

What is the thought process behind that?

I don't want to see your shite.

Shouldn't outlive your means and buy a storage shed to put that stuff in.

Zero tolerance.

Not missing facts at all. There is one particular woman that rides around on her bike, and it is well known what she is doing. She's a nice enough person, but is definitely on a mission to document violations.

In context, the letter was factual, and to the point, stating that if the issue wasn't cleared up, they would serve a second notice, and then fine her if the issue wasn't taken care of. She came to me asking my advice as I have always been helpful to her and her late husband. She is and he was, great people.

I just felt bad for her that no one reached out to her, as she was visibly shaken, or for that matter, me, as I see the bike nazi almost daily and exchange pleasantries. The bike nazi is well aware that I am helpful to my neighbor with things around her house.

SOrry, my intent was to not generalize engineers, but think what I was trying to convey could be understood by many. I know plenty of engineers who are not pricks!

Anything is possible. But being on a bike, you can possibly see through the tops of the shrubs. Trust me, in my neighborhood, there is a group of women, two in particular, that are very nosey.

You never spoke w/her, went to her house to see how she was doing?

That's the precedent you're setting, go and do it then.

There's the whole part I wrote where I got her pool back in shape and now her grandson is taking care of it. By the way, this happened early summer and in a matter of a couple weeks, according to my neighbor. I have done plenty maintenance on her pool and sprinklers to know this.

ETA: didn't know I was going to cause such an uproar by stating the good and bad in HOA's, as the OP initially asked. In summary, I like having an HOA in my neighborhood, there are just particular things that go outside of reasonable reaction.

Your opinion of what reasonable reaction is.

If I have many hundred grand on the line I hope I have someone on my side that fights for me.

I have quite a bit invested in my home, and a pool that is not seen, can not be a deterrent to the value of my home. Being a shitty neighbor and causing an elderly woman stress, can be a deterrent to the value of my home.

ETA: reasonable in the sense that I wish they would have just called her, or visited with her or me if there was an issue. That is it, nothing more.
You have made me realize that at our next meeting, I will certainly bring up this situation when the floor is open, and ask our board to be, in my opinion, more neighborly by meeting face to face with your neighbor.

Want to come have a beer and watch the street nazi's with me?

So let the pool slip by, then what?

You are stuck on the who and what. The point is zero tolerance. Let it slip and the next neighbor just points a finger and claims preferential treatment.

Nice troll attempt.

The kind that probably employs you.

That's sarcasm, buddy...It's great that you have acreage, but those things didn't work for my situation and where my kids needed to go to school. But you do you, bro!
