You have a shitty neighbor if he didn't pay it for you.

Also a shitty HOA that has that kind of fine system for forgetting 1 time.

Just had 30 people over for my daughter's birthday, no notice from our HOA. Get better neighbors.

My wife (no pics) has two cars. One is her everyday driver. Her other one is the cute sports car she wanted for fun, she rarely drives it. Some arse complained about her sports car sitting to long and not being used. They complained to the city and had the city Blight Court threaten me. If I find out who the bastard/bitch is who complained about my wife's car I will break both of their shins. I will.

In one of my son’s neighborhoods, there are access lanes behind each group of houses. This is used for service vehicles for utilities access, sanitation vehicles, etc. His lane or alley is up against a wooded area. He is the last house at the end of the service alley. He has his Legend bass boat parked back there. He received a letter from the HOA Gestapo that his boat cannot be visible from any of the neighborhood roads. It’s impossible to do so. He moved it about 8 feet and he received another letter indicating the same. His boat trailer is 2 feet longer than his garage so that’s not an option.

He moves it a couple of feet each time he gets a letter. The HOA merely writes letters and takes no other action. It also takes the HOA 6 months or more to approve simple things like a fence or addition of shrubbery, small trees, etc.

Have her drive it to work on Fridays. Case solved.

Some of you I am surprised made it out of elementary school. There are easy solutions to most problems in the world.

You didn’t read the covenants before you bought in the Subdivision?

They don’t suspend the rules* for a birthday party.

If you know you won’t have enough on-site parking for an event, get with your neighbors and see if some of your folks can park at the neighbors’ places.

Or have the folks park in a common area and shuttle them to your house.

Or move.

*You love the covenants when they keep a neighbor from having junk cars all over their yard. You have to give to get. I get it that you might consider it petty for a couple of hours but some people start abusing that way and work their way up to larger violations.

In my last neighborhood the HOA enforcement people would drive around every other Thursday. They only ever caught people "street parking" on Thursdays. A notice of violation is just a reminder for you to not make it a habit....you had a party so you don't have anything to worry about. At least in mine, they only ever cared if it was the same red car in front of the same house every visit....that's when fines would start.

Why? Boats are eye sores?

Depending on the jurisdiction they can put a lien on your house.

So the car is left on the street and "rarely" moves?

I ain't the complaining type, but that's pretty shitty. Not a fan.

Wife is trying to push me into an HOA governed subdivision. Great area, huge lots, nice houses, $500K-$2.5MM homes. We have family who live there and love it.

Not a fricking chance.

Does the HOA actually have any authority?

If you say frick them, can they evict you out of the house? Can the cops evict you out of the house?

I only see the stories of people getting letters and emails from their HOA.
