Just a lot more THC.

quote:

LaFrate runs Charas Scientific; it's one of eight labs certified to test recreational pot in the state, and what it found after examining 600 strains of marijuana from legally certified growers and sellers is that THC—the compound behind pot's "high"—is present in levels as high as 30%, though NBC News reports the average is 18.7%. In the '80s, it was usually below 10%.

quote:

But in that cross-breeding, cannabidiol—that's CBD, a compound that may benefit those suffering from everything from depression to Alzheimer's—has nearly been bred-out. "A lot of the time it's below the detection level of our equipment," says LaFrate.

Retail (legal) alcohol and cigarettes has zero health benefits.

That was easy.

Cbd is not the only component that has health and medical benefits. I am noticing a pattern with you. Why are you so anti marijuana?

Stupid. Of course THC is higher in retail weed. That's what the costumer wants.

Weed with high cbd concentration is also readily available by certain producers that specialize in medical.

I never thought there were claims of "Health Benefits".

Just that it might be a healthier option than taking copious amounts of narcotics.

I thought the THC was what was giving people suffering some relief.

Not so much anti-marijuana as 'anti-bullshite-propaganda'. Give the people the facts about it before it's legalized.

Marijuana Science: Why Today's Pot Packs a Bigger Punch

This is a fair article on this subject. It more fully develops the subject of health benefits of modern strains. You really need to read the whole article and not clip excerpts to prove a point.

So what does pot cure? Have the pharmaceutical companies been overlooking this medicinal gold mine for decades?

It probably helps with pain relief in some cases. Probably stimulates appetite.

I just have a lot of questions about legalization. Why the rush to breed higher levels of THC into pot? If 10% was good enough for centuries, why 30%? Smells like addiction or psychological dependence.

Just come out and say you want it legalized so you can get baked.

Probably sounds awesome to say it cures cancer when you're stoned. Sober minded folks find it humorous.

That's me.

It does help some people with certain medical conditions, there's one in this thread. I just smoke because it's awesome.

The herbs have been used as medicine since the dawn of time. If you did any substantial research you would at least partially know the reason why cannabis is illegal in our country. Actually at one point in time, there was a law saying that you had to grow cannabis or face a fine, or in serious cases even jail time was warranted. Cannabis has been proved to help with pain and stimulate appetite. Do some research on the endocannabanoid system that is present in every human body. Now the rush to breed higher levels of thc is a little alarming so I can understand where you are coming from regarding that, but it could, keyword "could" have someyhing to do with oh hey I only need two or three hits to feel the desired way instead of a full joint to the face?? But yeah most younger kids are just looking for the high, but like everything else in life you have to decide whats good for you and whats not good for you. You must be in total self control so if you feel like you are losing self control over yourself and others around you then put the piece down, or the liquor, booze, cigarettes, computer, or even work
