A tired dog is a good dog.

Most all of the behavioral issues you will ever have will be because the dog isn’t getting enough time to be a dog and wear itself out.

Had a heeler that the only way to wear it out was to get on the four wheeler and let it run after me for four miles every day after work.

Shouldn’t be a prob. I have 2 kids & both me & the Mrs jog 5-6 days week

The goal is to make the kennel their own place within a place. The house is the den, the kennel is their own personal den within a den. If you do it right, they love their kennel. They won't see it like a cage or prison cell. You'll say "go lay down" and the dog goes right in, happily. When the dog wants to lay down, it goes into the kennel by itself, of its own volition, without even being commanded. While a human sees bars and a prison cell, the dog thinks "this is my personal space" and the dog charishes it.

Thanks. The breeder is in Dallas and the food she uses is something she gets locally. Wife said she doesn’t think we have it here but I’ll look into it. It can be ordered. Idk what it is but I find it odd that it’d be something I can’t find around here somewhere

There are some foods that tend to be more regional there are also foods that used to be hard to find outside of feed and seed stores but Chewy carries most everything available.

Chewy also has some great crate and matching beds for really good prices. I always start my puppies in a smaller crate, the one that fits them as an adult sometimes gives them too much room and they will pee and poop in the corner. The brand I found to be a great value from Chewy was Frisco and they have beds that fit into them perfectly that you can buy as a combo.

Crates they have all different sizes

OT history requires you give it a queer name and post pics of you and your dog in the tub.

Especially when they are puppies putting a blanket over it tends to calm them, though it freaks some pups out because they don't feel connected to the rest of the pack.

Yeah, we’re on that. Any resources for that?

I recommend Kong kennels and kennel pads. Go to petsmart and check them out in person, there are some nice options.

The top paw kennels are pretty flimsy in comparison

Hopefully, it is a big dog so you can keep it outside all the time. Never let him in the house. Trust me. Dogs are disgusting. Feed him, play with him, take care of him when extreme weather comes. Outside dogs are the happiest and easiest to care of. Example when you need to go on vacation just put out a ton of extra dry food/water in a covered spot and then leave.

If it's a puppy, keep it on the same food that he/she is on from where they come from.

Training - plenty online resources or google dog trainers in your area.

Supplies - literally go to a petsmart or amazon and anything you can imagine is available.

Get a crate, puppy pads. Have the dog sleep in the crate and I've always had success with the crate training method to help with potty training as well.

ENjoy!

I have a Cane Corso, so it’s probably a little different. First of all, screw Crate training. I have a Guard dog for a reason. What good is it, if he’s in a Crate? How is he going to deter someone from entering my property in a cage? I know people that make them sleep in the Crate. He’s in my bed, with the gf (no pics). I assure you, you don’t want to pop in and startle him, lol. I have him on a mix of raw/kibble. A lot of protein, bone and necessary fats. Training for smaller dogs is pretty easy with a food reward platform. Always be the leader. Dogs are generally very intuitive and will follow your direction as they grow. I got my Cane Corso professional training, because with a big dog that can react to triggers, you want to be able to control their behavior with a word. If you walk up to him, with your dogs on a leash and I give a command , he’ll sit alert in front of me. If I give that one word command, it’s go time. If you have a 9-5 job, away from the home, and you don’t feel comfortable with he/she outside, then a crate will control them. Regardless, they offer unconditional love and affection and you’ll be amazed at how many new friends you’ll make because of your dog. Good luck!

Love and spend time with you dog. I have one that I'm pretty sure won't make it to the weekend.
22 months ago vet gave him 6 months, I've lost 10 pounds on walks with him since then. We had a mile walk yesterday afternoon with my wife and our other dog. When it was time to go to bed, he had trouble walking.
