I'm liking the feedback guys. Thanks. We struggled with it early in the relationship, but it has since come back to the forefront, mainly in thinking about our future together. That is pretty much the only thing we are still undecided about...how we would raise our kids.

The differences are very significant.

Ask her directly if she thinks an infant should be baptized.

That is probably a very telling conversation.

Why not both switch to a non denomination Christian church?

Bmath is giving you good advice. In most of the cases I've seen the Protestant involved converted and the families raised their kids Catholic.

You don't understand the phrase "different religions."

I am interested in this as well.

I am a lapsed catholic. Been chasing this little non denominational Christian peice of tail. Anytime she brings up her faith, which is a lot, I kind of just nod or something kind of agreeable. In my head in like "she's nuts" haha

So if one of them believes in Catholic dogma and the other Baptist they should compromise by practicing neither?

And, the phrase "non-denomination Christian" is a ridiculous theological construct.

At least they can still attend a Christian church together.

You think Jesus really cares if you were a practicing Baptist or Catholic?

A non-denominational church doesn't have a pope. How is that representative of the catholic faith?

Yes. The New Testament is all about how to worship God.

They may be the same religion, but I think a devout baptist and a devout catholic would butt heads more than a catholic and a buddhist, or a jew and an atheist. Southern baptists have very negative views of catholics.

Religion is very very significant to those who actually believe it. You do not believe it clearly, so speak for yourself.

Not worth it.

Catholics believe faith is shown through their actions.

Baptists just think they can say anything and they are totally right with g-d.

Also, evangelical baptists have it totally wrong about telling people about their faith. They think people actually want to hear their stories about "finding their personal relationship with jesus ." It's tedious.

Okay, you're wildly generalizing these denominations, and it sounds like youre speaking from your own experience.

I believe in God, but not the go to church 4 times a week God that Baptist believe in. But my wife does. We attended a Baptist church for years after we were first married. Wasn't bad, but keep in mind they don't have a governing body that keeps a watch over their pastors. So it can be a grab bag, if you know what I mean. I did get tired of them singing the sang songs for 45 mins every Sunday.

Well that's very unfortunate, I feel sorry for the kids. Kids don't have the choice as adults do, fortunately kids like playing make believe.
