Going to a concert at UT on March 22. I was wondering if it is worth getting a hotel right around campus. Is there anything around there other than a college drinking scene?

Thanks guys.

The other end of 6th down toward Opals is a lot older crowd. More laid back and music oriented. If that's your thing then it could be fun. Honestly just get a motel somewhere besides downtown and take an Uber to your concert.

I don't think there are any hotels right around campus.

Just stay in the Hilton Downtown. It's the newest, nicest, best located hotel that ISN'T also ridiculously priced.

Go down to the river. 2nd street is for the non college crowd.

Check out Rainy Street.

There is the hotel at the AT&T Conference center. It's very big. But I would prefer staying downtown or anywhere else near other attractions and just commute via Uber/Lyft. Also look at Airbnb.com or HomeAway.com

Correct on Uber, haha but two things, Opal's has been gone for awhile, and the crowd at West 6th is now almost entirely 21-35yo. It's gotten much younger.

Rainey is better and all drinking ages. East Austin more hipster and adult.

You should check out Hotel Van Zandt. Located directly next to Rainey st and within walking distance of 6th street. I've never stayed there but I always walk right by it and it's got 4.3 stars on Google.

Look at the Kimber Modern. My favorite in Austin.
