This is one of the few authorized dealers that sell the ALP in the US.

Lasers are few and far between. Waste of money.

Depends on where he lives. Some states such as Georgia and Florida use LIDAR about as much as radar. The Atlanta metro area is laser central. LIDAR is also becoming more popular in other states as the guns get cheaper and more on par with price as radar units.

I know 3 troopers in BR and if they LIDAR a vehicle that's clearly speeding and they can't get a reading (because of a jammer), they stop them anyways and cite them for at least 20 mph over. I don't speed much, I just don't get trying to beat the system.

The key is to slow down to an acceptable speed and disarm the system. The disarming can be done manually by a switch or by a preset time of 2-5 seconds.

Oh, and your trooper buddies are basically lying on the traffic citation regarding speed since the couldn't lock in a given speed. Police lying. Go figure. Tickets should be thrown out in court but won't because good luck trying to prove it.

every bit of this.

Speeding tickets are all about revenue generation, plain and simple. If it was about "safety" they wouldn't be behind billboards or cooping behind trees.

That's why, if you do get one, any decent attorney, even the ones that post here, can get it plead down to some BS charge. Your insurance doesn't go up and the local yokel gets the money. win/win.

Maybe of speed limits were set appropriately then people wouldn't try to beat the system as much. Speed limits should be set at the 85th percentile of free-flowing traffic, but most limits are under-posted by 10-15 mph or more. Probably about the 30th-40th percentile. This, although, is another subject.

And don't forget, if you get pooped when you're doing 78 in a 70 and Barney writes you for 84, what are you gonna say?

St. John's Parish uses them quite a bit. Just ask anyone that drives I-10 regularly.

How can you determine if a speed limit is appropriate or not?

Easy, if the majority of vehicles are speeding by 5 mph or more, then the speed limit is obviously set too low.

Furthermore, you can have the DOT preform honest speed studies of a given highway and set the limit to the 85th percentile of free flowing traffic. Do not set limits based on political maximums such as 55 on 2-lane, 65 on 4-lane or 70/75 on interstates. Studies have shown time and time again that speed limits set at the 85th percentile provide the most efficient and safest flow of traffic. In other words, setting speed limits too low make roads more dangerous.

Low limits produce the most speed variances as those well meaning individuals that insist on following the letter of the law will be putting along at 10-15 mph under the flow of traffic. They then become hazards on the roadway due to the majority of traffic having to continually pass them at such a speed difference. Raising the limit allows those drivers to keep up with the flow of traffic while following the law.

Also, you'd be wrong to presume that raising the limit will only permit those speeding already to drive "x" amount faster. When Utah raised the speed limit on the interstate from 75 to 80, the 85th percentile speed only went from 82 mph to 83 mph.

I have a laser interceptor, but I had to build custom mounts for the heads to mount to my brush guard. Other than that, it really isn't that hard

FWIW, the Antilaser is supposed to be the best now. When I bought mine, it was the best
