A Confederacy of Dunces is a good one!
Another is The Alchemist, by Paul Cuelho. Short read, but enlightening.

Tom Robbins

I really loved Tom Robbins until I read his autobiography, Tibetan Peach Pie. That pretentious little douche sure taught me not to read autobiographies of authors I like.

Anyway:

Harlot's Ghost - A Novel of the CIA
Norman Mailer

When Money Grew On Trees
David Mac

Heard it was pretty accurate. Fact or fiction, I'm sure there's a lite of both in the book, it still makes for a great read about NOLA, Louisiana, & some of her most infamous characters.
