A little older and might already be considered a classic:

It would be to those who read 50 million threads calling them "trashy".

For a real suprise:

Pontiac G8

Very underrated car. They have already been holding their value astoundingly well for a mid-00's "American" made car.

I've never driven a car with an American badge that was as balanced as the G8. Simple transmission, no paddle shifters, big V8 w/plenty of power, simple traction control, well balanced, turned very well, and not a lot of over/under steer. Simply put, a lot of fun to drive, even in the base model. My dad almost bought one. It was the last one left on the lot, just days before that dealership shut down after Pontiac shuttered their windows. I still want to kick him for not signing on the dotted line.

Back to the G8, its basically an Australian Holden, and in a few years you'll be able to get the same car for far cheaper when the new police model Chevy Capri starts being sold after their service life ends. Exact same car. GM had to finish out their contract and figured this was the best way to do it. I imagine there will be a LOT of these on race tracks in the future. Most cars as race ready as the G8/Capri is, stock from the factory, cost far more than what cities sell old police cruisers for. I'm hoping to get one when the time comes, just to have for fun.

My answer to this thread, is the 2nd model of the Cadillac CTS-V, but the wagon. For some reason, many American car collectors have always liked sport wagons. Admittedly, it is fun to have space for the family, luggage, the dog, and do 0-60 in under 5 seconds.

They actually made some manual E38s. I have what will be a classic to me, naturally aspirated I6 manual E60. The last real 528i. They had a good run. I hope to buy a similar E34 at some point as well.

Well I guess we should clarify

The v-6 and r/t challengers will probably struggle to be considered classics and if they were at some point considered classics it would be a surprise

But the srt and hellcats(challenger and chargers) are no brainers for very desirable future classics.

Maybe, but they're continuing to improve so it would be a current version and not the originals IMO.

Most of the cars being suggest are sports cars and what not. I want to know what the 2016 version of a 1956 Bel Air is going to be?

Wagons and crossovers are a good suggestion.

Didn't Chvey already release a rebadged G8? The SS.

I really wanted a G8 when they came out but I was at a point where buying a car just didn't make good sense....then Pontiac disappeared by the time I was ready.

Here's the Holden Commodore for reference:

My nephew has one of those.

Pretty fun to drive. Had no clue they were that quick.

Certain early Pontiac GTOs already there. Corvette never..ever (Sorry Vette Guy). If you want to buy a new car today that will greatly increase in value get ready to pay. Shelby American is building an improved version of the original Cobra Daytona Coupe. All hand formed and polished aluminum. All in $450,000. They will only make 50.

Yeap, you're right. Not sure how I forgot about that. They really didn't advertise them as much as the car deserved. Not sure why either.

Always been a bigger fan of the M35 and M45 by Infiniti

Also, the Jaguar F type coupe and saloon are some of the best looking cars on the road currently

Apparently any high end sports car or sedan is going to be a classic based on this thread. I took the OP to mean more of an everyday car that would turn into a classic with time.
