Alexander was Macedonian Greek - definitely Greek and one of the major Greek sub-groups. Similar to Ionian or Thessalonian or Attican or something like that. Rougher, mountain, country arse Greeks compared to the Spartans or Ionians, but Greeks nonetheless.
