That's exactly what speed queen does, internally it's a 1990's unit.
Washers and dryers peaked in 2004, fridges in the late 90's.
Never buy anything GE unless you want to replace the control board. The only control boards I keep on the truck are for GE, lg and Samsung can be hit or miss, but the parts are cheap if you can find someone who fixes them.

Did you get your washer fixed? Was it the pump?

Lady Kenmore were the last of the Kenmore built appliances. They got bought by whirlpool.
Until the late 80's all Kenmore were whirlpool.
All Kenmore model numbers start with three numbers and a period those three numbers tell you who made it. 110 means whirlpool 465 is Frigidaire.

you just need it to wash & dry your shite.

But... but... I also want to be able to steam stuff in it and use it as a dry cleaner and sink and also want it to be able to selectively get the stains out of my clothes by inputting settings into my phone. And I'd really like it if it had wifi built in.

/sarcasm.

On a serious note, I can't remember how old or W&D are, but I've had the drain hose assembly on the washer replaced and a pulley and the drum belt thing replaced on the dryer. That's it. They are white. Kenmore, but made by whirlpool, I think.

i did fix it. you were exactly right. something was wedged in there. i pushed it through and it was back to good as new.

i had already ordered the pump so just put it up in the cabinet for next time.

napoleon answered why this is the case.

i'm 49 and i hate how many years of my life i spent chasing new/better stuff $$$$.

my son has a 1985 chevy blazer that he can change the radiator and rebuild the alternators on and the new square headlight assemblies he needed were $14 each. cheaper than the bulbs on those new shitty plastic lights and he has 2 non-UV damaged fantastic looking GLASS lights.

i have the most BASIC hot water heater & washer & dryers and unless i'm buying a 'smart switch' for a specific need, i buy $7 rotary dimmers.

as a result, we can pretty much do most simple repairs on things ourselves now.

mechanical age >>>> digital age

I agree.
I have a fridge on my porch that's 35 years old. Never a lick of trouble. It was my father in laws. He got a new one and gave it to my sister in law when she got her own place. They moved and I inherited it. It's been on my porch, outside for 8 years.

we have a 1940s westinghouse freezer at my parents house that has been on just about continuously since then. first at my aunt's house and when she died in the 1970s, it moved to my parents house.

never serviced.
cold as frickING shite.
still running although its loud and the compressor sounds like a gunshot when it goes off.

i mean..frick. we are a throw-away society now

Plus the older units were easier to service and repair now I have to constantly tell customers the repairs are going to cost more than the appliance is worth.
A lot of techs only want to focus on the new, and I do mostly stuff too, but I really try and get people to keep the old stuff going.
So much do that I try to keep repairs around $100 on the old stuff by selling parts under retail. Just because you keep it going and a really happy customer is just as good advertising as anything else.

I hate seeing the appliances getting worse and worse every year. Hell LG switched to a linear fridge compressor, good luck finding techs to work on that.
(Jeez I hate mobile, going to have to edit these posts later, lol)

then i realized "well shite, there's always one or two of this EXACT model washer on craigslist for under $50..just buy another damn washer & take the motor out"

craiglist is my parts center.

Kenmore has always been a private label built by others. To my knowledge, Sears has never done any manufacturing. Sears gave Whirlpool's predecessor company its start around 1915 with an order for wringer washers to be sold by Sears under one of its brand names.
