Stayed there in May. Place is nice and very huge. Food was good at some restaurants and ok at others.

I don't mean to offend anyone but is Punta Cana becoming the new Cancun where all the trashy people go? I only ask this because the secretary at work and her douche bag Tap Out wearing boyfriend are going in July. It's all she talks about every day. For the people that have been what's the clientele like there? Is if more of the Carnival Cruise crowd? Just curious as to what the appeal is as opposed to any other Caribbean destination.

Several people at my resort said they caught a cab to gamble at the Hard Rock because their casino was supposed to be better... just know that that is an option should you find a resort that you like better. (again this is according to the random people I talked to in PC).

I would say it is all about the resort. All-Inclusives are going to attract a different kind of clientele because you can eat and drink all you want similar to a cruise.

Cheap airlines flights (including Southwest) and affordable all-inclusive resorts ... IMO, the crowd varies by resort ...

I'm going in August and honestly not that excited. I can think about about 10 places I'd prefer to go. However, we are getting there for free so that's why we settled on it.

I am sort of in the same boat for a September trip. Are there similar areas that are around the same price range but better culture and scenery? I am trying to push another destination without upsetting everyone's budget.

We ate dinner at the Hard Rock. We actually stayed at the Riu Palace. The beach was nice, but there are a lot of Europeans. Including one French chick off her meds at 3 am screaming like a fire truck while she was sleep walking down the outdoor breezeway until some guy dumped a bucket of ice water on her.

Are there better places with more culture etc.? Yes. But, It's endless free booze and a beach... if you can't have a good time, then you've got problems.

Bahia Principe was fabulous in every way. Crowd was mostly foreign and were absolutely no issue with us.
