I've heard both. Punch Bug, I prefer. Haven't seen one on the road in a really long time. Maybe those newer ones for girls.

Ambulances
Fire Trucks

Drivers are immune for safety reasons.

It appears people from Louisiana and the south call it punch bug except for the New Orleans area. Them and the mid-west call it slug bug.

It seems about 75% of us call it punch bug
