We cleaned out my Geemaws place the other day and was able to retrieve and claim my papaws rife. I’m not much of a gun guy but taking it and giving it to my son. He’s a little young but hopefully one day he’ll appreciate it one day. Haven’t had a chance to let him shoot it yet buts he’s been cleaning it and carrying it around just like a real GI.
We’re set to go out to some family property in MS this weekend to see if we can shoot anything

I've watched enough Natgeo to know that the green britches will use this as evidence against you.

Holy shite. That's awesome!

Since you're not a gun guy, I'll give you some advice. DO NOT shoot standard 30-06 ammo out of that gun. You'll break the op rod. You need Garand-specific 30-06 ammo.

That's a good way to lose that rifle since it's not deer season. Best hope a game warden isn't around.

And one day he will pass it down to his children!

And kids…..here’s my first picture of me and my Dad hunting together. Nevermind the handcuffs or that guy in green jeans. (Kidding…)

Nice assault rifle. Why would anyone need to possess this weapon of war?

Maybe just set up some paper targets? Shooting "something" isn't a great idea this time of year. But, I'm not 100% sure of the hunting regulations in MS, so I could be wrong....

But I'm probably not.

Here is a website where you can check the manufacturer and serial number to narrow down when the rifle was made.
