She's within her legal right to not speak to the cops.

So you think its polite to lie to a person and trample their rights? That's what the cop did. He lied about her having to give her name and he lied about her getting the time to call to confirm.

i'm not discussing any of this at all as i've stated before. I just wanted to know why you left out the part about her walking away. Period.

You clearly made a point to leave out that part to push an agenda. You got called out on it.

Are you insinuating black people should ignore their constitutional rights to prevent getting roughed up by cops?

No, I'm stating that all people, brown white green whatever, would have a loooooooooooooooooot easier time in dealing with police if they would just act respectfully. That's it. Act decent. Be civil. Don't talk shite. Don't be argumentative. Do what the cops ask and 99% of the time you're good to go and on your way.

I have been pulled over for speeding about 8 or 9 times since I was 17. Every time, I turn off the car, roll down the windows, put my license and insurance on the dash, and put my hands at 10 and 2 on the wheel. I'm sure most would call me a bootlicker or a pussy, but guess what? I've had pleasant interactions each and every one of those stops and have received 0 tickets in that time frame. Ya know why? Because like I said, cops adjust their behavior based on what you give them. Be courteous and non-threatening, they'll treat you with respect back. Be a shithead and refuse to cooperate, they may wail on you. I don't know, that's a risk I've not and am not willing to take.

she didnt have a right to refuse, the cops were called specifically because of her actions in public.
The cop stated she committed no crime before going to speak to her. She was not required to give her name according to the article.

KEEP LIVING IN DENIAL. I bet you wouldn't act like this to a police officer even though you're defending her.

Have you ever had a cop declare you had not committed a crime and then arrest you in a physically aggressive way?

No I didn't. Her moving slightly away has NOTHING to do with anything regarding the situation.

She was well within her rights to move slightly away. Turning your back on a cop IS NOT A CRIME. Walking away after you've been told you havent committed a crime IS NOT A CRIME.

You're skipping the middle step in this instance where I get hostile and uncooperative with the cops. So no, that has never happened to me.

Even in the cases in my life where I've been dead arse wrong, and clearly breaking the law, and in one case in a very serious and severe way, I was still always respectful and was never given any trouble by cops.

You should be as he was within his rights. Have you ever had a cop trample your rights though?

A cop asking for my name is not "trampling my rights". She may have been legally obligated to not answer the question, tha'ts fine. My whole stance has never been in regards to the law. But I don't consider it a trampling to give them my name, espeically if I'm trying to clear the situation up and prove my innocence.

If they had asked her to sit in teh back of a police car while they sort it out, or cuff her and sit her on the ground while they talk...tha'ts extreme. Answering the most basic of questions is not "trampling my rights". Geez.

And that's a situation I'll never, ever be in because I'll never, ever interact with police in the way she did. So I don't really have to worry about it.

Could the woman have avoided this ENTIRE situation by just answering basic, simple questions like her name? An even bigger yes

OR the cop could have known he was out of his right to demand she supply anything once there was no incident. The school knows her name and that of her daughter. The cop was the one BREAKING HIS PROTOCOL and this has been reaffirmed by the supreme court.

The COP was the one provoking, yet you just want to blame the people.

Pinch yourself and wake up. Quit making excuses for a cop who obviously doesn't know the laws which he is sworn to uphold...do you get it yet?
