Next Thursday is when this issue really heats up with the city council.

...Possible mass rioting, CNN type stuff, and lots of rebel flags.

everypne is already calling it a joke. Huge crime rate, but sure lets spend money on taking out a few statues. It'll blow over in a few weeks.

Stupid HDLC wouldnt let me remove an unecessary, duplicative broken bracket on an awning that was added in the 1940's-1950's (not original to the late 1800's building) without replacing it with an identical bracket which would have cost $2500-3500 to cast a new one.

Yet somehow they are okay with removing a monument placed in 1884. Cannot wait to here the Mardi Gras day broadcast..."and now they are rolling into Tivoli Circle"

Where does it stop? Is Andrew Jackson next? The Jefferson Memorial, the Washington Monument. Get a grip people. It is part of our history.

I was making a joke referring to WWL. They had some people on the street interviews about the statues and they had some black lady on that said "Them statues why we poor."

It was funny.

We have a President shitting out Executive Orders on important items daily because Congress won't pass his bullshite.

If Jindal overstepped his bounds here, people would support him 4-1.

I am going there in Sept for a weekend. Fully plan on getting photos in front of it before it's gone. If it's even there by the time I visit .

I would normally agree, but I'm sure there will be an army of police on hand. Still, it could get ugly. I predict signs, flags and lots of pissed off people, but no rioting.

The saddest part is that, now that Charleston is yesterday's news, they could have just stopped talking about it and no one would have noticed.

Mitch was following suit with that political "flavor of the week" event.

Except that the city is broke and can't properly staff a viable police force.
