Pre-workout or caffeine for sports performance?

I've lifted weights regularly for about 25 years but only started taking a Pre-workout 3 years ago. It's definitely helped with energy and focus during workouts and I generally limit taking it to once/week (only supplement that I've ever taken).

There have been a few times that I've played basketball after working out (on a Pre-workout day). My reaction times are much quicker and I'm able to get more rebounds, loose balls, steals, and better defensively.

I noticed recently that C4 has a Sports Performance Pre-Workout and not sure how it differs from their normal Pre-Workout. I don't consume as much caffeine as most people but have recently tried coffee or espresso before playing basketball (or other sports) and felt a similar boost.

If anyone has any personal experiences or recommendations in this area, please share. I have no interest in taking something like adderall although also curious how that compares to the above options.

If you're serious about increasing energy and focus then we need to be talking cocaine. frick this child shite with preworkout and addy.

I used C4 years ago. I think it came in a powder form.

I liked it from what I can remember.

I only drink coffee now, black. It works just as well and is cheaper IMO.

I stopped taking all preworkouts. I'll just drink some tea before a workout. Why? You have absolutely no idea what they're putting into those preworkouts and I felt like shite after taking them for a while. If you need a preworkout to workout you might want to re-evaluate why you workout.

I had to miss the 1st half of an intramural game to take a test. I took an adderall that morning and had been studying all day. I get to the game and we're down 15 or so. I'm frickin wired and can feel like the adderall is gonna make me play better

I proceed to go 7/8 from 3 (only miss was on a transition 3 that I got greedy with). Finished with like 27pts and we won by 10 lol. shite made you focus so hard on your form

I do coffee about 1-2 hours before. Gives me a boost, but it is digested enough so that i don't feel sick when i start to sweat.

I loved pre-workout, but it started to make me feel pretty crappy after a while. Took time off from working out while on location this month, and will be looking for other options. Black coffee being one of them.

Agree, but for some reason the pre-workout did as well, and it was pretty miserable being that fired up while confined to the toilet

My liver became inflamed to 150% it's normal size. Was taking preworkout twice a week with plenty of water. Threw that junk in the trash

Get stay awake pills from Walgreens. 200mg of caffeine. That's what I do.
