No, it really isn't. When a police dog is shot they sure as shite charge with with the shooting of a police officer. Headline is a dose of justice against the pigs

Serious question- if you're the parent, and the dog is attacking your child- are you within your rights to defend your child with any means (I.e. a gun if you're a CCL holder)?

I'd worry about saving my kid first and settling the question of who owns the dog later.

And for the record, I'd not recommend trying to shoot a dog while it's attached to a child. You run too big of a risk of accidentally hitting the child.

That might be the worst thread title ever to the actual story.

The DA will charge the family with failing to supervise their child, but the resisting arrest charge against the kid was dropped.

You're seriously asking if it's OK to shoot a cop? Good luck with that.

I believe his post was a play on the thread from the other day. The one where the 15 year old girl was beaten, tased and arrested by an off duty policeman for doing nothing more than riding through a mall parking lot.

A highly trained animal, with years of experience in fighting drugs and crime, medals and accommodations, and STILL can't fight the urge to kill.

I think you're right.

Did anyone say "play stupid games win stupid prizes"? I feel like that's appropriate here.

This officer dog should be on administrative leave until it is shown that he thought he was in fear for his life.

My favorite is when the officers leave the dog locked in the car in the middle of the summer until it dies from the heat. Police dogs are only police officers when it suits them best, the rest of the time they are just dogs.

In the OP scenario - dog escapes its kennel and is uncontrolled and attacks a child - then yes, you are justified in using lethal force to stop the dog.

The fact that it's a police K9 is irrelevant in that scenario because the dog isn't under the control of a handler acting in an official capacity. In the OP scenario it's simply a dangerous dog that has gotten loose and is attacking a child.

I wonder if the dog, er I mean officer, is euthanized if he will be added to the list of the other officers on this website.
