I guess I missed that episode. Because I've watched South Park since the 90s and until this thread I'd never heard of him.

His getting cancelled has created way more publicity than his show ever did.

LOL

He already has 53 million subscribers and his videos have been viewed almost 15 BILLION times.

BS to people saying who, he's the biggest youtuber out there. If you watch youtube with any frequency, you will come across his idiotic videos.

Been mentioned here probably numerous times and it's not like OT is filled with elderly people who can't figure out the internet.

Well I guess I could readjust to say the OT isn't as good of parents as we were led to believe and they have no idea what shitty content their kids watch on youtube.

There is such a generational disconnect in terms of media consumed right now. Kids under 15-17 don't watch tv. If allowed they mostly watch YouTube. YouTube has big stars (in the eyes of this age group).
I don't think most adults have any idea what kids are watching on YouTube. We had some kids over the other day (parents say they rarely get iPad play time), and they knew at least 6 you tube stars I named and had opinions on all of them.
When I told them how one of the ones I mentioned had a really funny episode about sticking Haramabe's dick into Miley Cyrus's arse when she is teerking they thought I was making it up and that their kids don't watch that sort of stuff.
Parents either don't admit their kids are watching this stuff on YouTube or they have no idea what they are watching.
The Harambe dick joke was in an episode of Sky Does Minecraft.

Also PewdiePie is worth $90 million as of last November. Almost entirely from his YouTube earnings. Made $15 million last year alone after taxes. He pays 56% of his income in taxes, and his net worth is obviously after that. So he's actually made a lot more than $90 million Crazy part, in Sweden anyone who makes more than $88k in US dollars pays 56% of their income in taxes. That's socialism and it's ducking disgusting

Why the frick is he still living in Sweden then?

Anyone else see the irony of Disney all companies dropping him for being antisemitic?

I was finishing high school and starting college when Youtube really blew up. I am really not sure what point PewDeePie got so popular. I watch a lot of video game related content including AVGN, Lets Plays, podcasts, etc, but I've never really seen any of PewDeePie's videos show up on my feed. What content I have seen is extremely clickbaity

I stay away from most of the larger Youtube channels though. The must subscribers most of my channels have is around 1-3 million.

No, I actually watch videos on youtube that I find interesting. There is so much content on there that I would have to go out of my way to find videos on this pewdiepie character. There is no reason that his videos would ever be recommended to me through their algorithms. I just found out who this guy is this morning. Watched one of his videos. Turns out there was a reason that I had never come across him before. His content is not nearly targeted at me.

It's almost impossible, unless you block him like I have long ago, not to see one of his videos come up on the side/in trending/in your home if you surf it consistently. Youtube advertises the frick out of him cause he gets views, lots and lots of views.

Yea. Despite what some people may believe on here, he is one of the biggest celebrities in this new era of social media.

He was on an H3H3 (another youtube channel) podcast a couple of weeks ago. shite's nuts. The more money you make and the more popular you are, the less you have to pay for stuff. Google and apple just send him phones every year unsolicited. His manager or whatever called up Universal Studios prior to him going and they set him up with VIP and Universal would clear whatever area of the park he was in so him and his crew just walked around universal without ever having to wait in a line or anything. He said he didn't pay for that, that's just what Universal did for him.

He's said a few times recently that YouTube/Google doesn't really promote him much at all and that he doesn't even talk with them.

The recent change that youtube made to how they rank and feed videos has hurt the bigger channels and let smaller channels compete, but his shite still pops up a lot.

S18 E09. Its the one where Randy is Lorde ("I am Lorde, yada ya ya") and has holographic Tupac and Michael Jackson. Probably one of the funniest episodes they've done
