They do in Oregon.

Posters quickly came down and several nasty-grams showed up in her mailbox, saying Amber alerts are for kids only....and that comparing a lost dog to a young girl who was raped and murdered is deplorable.

You realize how many stray animals are out there? Please, tell me how those are the same as street urchins.

I'd be pissed if I got an amber alert about a fricking dog.

Sometimes I get emergency notifications that include the Amber Alerts.

What is interesting is if there's a tornado warning, or flood warning, or severe weather warning...those notifications give 2 chimes.

If there's an Amber Alert it gets 5 chimes.

Does this mean a single child is worth more than possibly hundreds of thousands of people? What does this mean?

Tell me about it. Imagine.

Agree. Amber alerts should be for non domestic cases only.

Dogs are color blind.... Wouldn't a gray alert be more appropriate?

How does the pet amber alert work? I get messages on my phone about missing kids. If I get a message about some ladies missing Lhasa Apso, I'm going to be pissed.

It wouldn't be that hard to set it up so you opt in. I would pay more attention to a pet alert because there's a better chance of solving it. The pet is likely to be roaming the streets. The child is in the back of a car and can't be seen. I could watch for the vehicle but I would have to memorize a description and license plate and then try to dial 911 while driving.

I'll be watching a game on TV when they interrupt the broadcast for 5 minutes about an amber alert 100 miles away. I usually look around the room, but I've yet to see anybody.

I get using the highway flashing signs, cell phone alerts, radio blasting, but I would like to know how many of these things are solved by some guy watching football in his den?

If she cares that much, have one of those mark of the beast implants put in that act as a GPS to show where the animal is.

I am an over-the-top dog lover, and I say with 100% certainty that this is cray cray. I would do anything to find my missing dog...except call it a damn amber alert. Ridiculous.
