I'm calling bs on Florida and Georgia.
Living in Florida now, no one on the other side on a 4+ lane road stops. Plenty of cops, no one gets stopped.
Lived in Georgia for 4 years, and people did that shite all the time. Had a few a cops as patient, asked them if it's a law. All said no, not on opposite side of the road. Yes, if on the same side

A few weeks ago an ambulance was going the opposite way on a 4 lane road and the idiot in front of me came to a dead stop until the ambulance passed. Luckily I had enough room to get around. Whole lot of really stupid people on the roads, makes a decent argument for self driving cars.

It makes me more mad when people jump in line behind an ambulance and prevent you from getting back over. It takes a special kind of bastard to think "an emergency vehicle responding to human injury: I know, I'll take advantage of it clearing traffic by following closely behind it!"
It is illegal to follow within 500 feet of an emergency vehicle with its lights and sirens on. I wish cops would ticket for this more

No no, You must have hit the pot hole before I fixed it.
You should have waited until I was finished before passing me while blowing your horn!
