What does one think of this? I'm talking about have children in their mid 50's. By the time the kids is ready to go to college they will be in their early 70's. At this age you'd might not be able to see some of the important things in your kids life. This seems prevalent among rich celebs.

Unless you outlive your kids you will always miss something.

If your goal is to see the maximum amount of your offsprings lives, start having kids at 15 years old.

My gf is 25 and has a 2 year old half sister

Her dad's wife is only 31, and he has a 30 year old daughter also. So there's a 28 year gap between his oldest and youngest

After reading these two threads on here, I feel out the norm.

Meh, different strokes.

My wife's uncle had his first (and likely only) kid last year at the age of 53. He'd had his fun in life and decided he wanted one and he and his wife (much younger) had a kid. He's admitted that it's tougher physically and he hates that there's a better than average chance he'll never get to enjoy grandkids, but he's made his decision and is living with it.

Still though, having a kid is as tough physically as it is in general, and I couldn't imagine doing it in my late 30s, let alone my early 50s.

I waited until I was in my early 40s to get married and have a child. I lived a pretty full life before settling down, and my daughter is now the greatest joy in my life. I don't know if I would have appreciated a child as much when I was younger.

I definitely agree. I had my daughter at 46 and my son at 50.I was enjoying the single life through my 20's and 30's. Having kids when I did was perfect for me. Sure, I worry about leaving them behind if something happens. But I would worry about that at any age.
