Peep hole for door leading to garage....Yes or No

Just had a mini argument with my wife over this. I want to have one installed. My wife's dad has a key to our house and he often lets himself into the door leading to the garage and then knocks at the back door at random times throughout the day since he is retired. I hate opening the door without knowing who is standing on the other side. My wife sometimes forgets to close the garage door and the garage door has stayed open over night but not often. Also, the neighbor has knocked on the back door once too.
Her main reason against having one is because she says the door would look ugly. Also, she said she would never open that door if someone knocked on it which I am relieved to hear this.
Anybody here not have a peep hole on the door leading to the garage?

I have one on my door. It comes handy when I want to check on the gimp that I have chained up in the garage.

Your wife's dad knocks on the back door all the time, she forgets to close the garage door, and a neighbor knocks as well.
Your wife tells you she'd never open the door? So she's never once let her dad in the house? Or the neighbor?
Yes. Get a peephole. And a camera, and a lawyer. Your wife is fricking the neighbor.

Just have her read Corkfather's story. Argument settled.

Tell your FIL to call before coming over. Tough love his arse as in threatening to take away his key if he doesn't play by this new rule.
I'm glad I don't have that issue, frick having my FIL buzzing around my hive at will.

Choosing cosmetic appearance of the door over security? Seriously?
And peep holes are like only a half-inch wide. It's not like it's going to cover half the door or something.

Ask her if a glory hole would work? Marriage is about compromising

This.
That would be the first conversation I had with the wife right before I installed the peel hole.

If this our wife argue about, I'd love to see the fallout from real issues. My wife knows better than to go to battle over petty shite.

I have all my peepholes reversed. To prevent an ambush

I don't really worth about this.
Everyone that comes into the general vicinity of my house is under constant surveillance. By the time they've climbed the fence and gotten into my garage, they'd have met a large Lab (Buck) that we watch for my brother and our German Shepard (Heidi) who would both slobber an intruder into submission.
If they through those two, my wife's Corgi will make them very uncomfortable by staring daggers at them. He may even bark moderately loud.

Closed circuit video surveillance in the garage. It won't make the door ugly and it might help in a divorce settlement if it catches your wife banging a co-worker parked in the garage while you're out of town for a few days on business.

So put door with a window instead.

After rereading your less-than-Alpha initial post, I'm of the opinion that you will be more likely to have to cut a glory hole for her than to worry about a peep hole.

I've got one that does that too. A little Dachshund. He gives the death stare, barks his head off, grabs the bottom of the fence in his mouth and shakes it. Little ankle biter. But I always know when someone has pulled into the driveway.
