I had no idea that this was still a thing. The paddles in my elementary and junior high schools were vented with holes for extra effect. And parents back then gave zero fricks.

I always took the licks versus detention. Yeah, it hurt but it was over within 10 minutes.

Fair enough but agree to disagree.
We often all call school a glorified day care with no discipline. Here's a case of a discipline choice given to the kid and family that ends in cuffs. This is in a very conservative small town by the way. If we can't discipline kids here w parent involvement it's no wonder we can't anywhere else. JMO.

I remember getting paddled in third grade catholic school.
Went home after school and got spanked for getting paddled.
Never got paddled again after that.

Meh. My high school and middle school were both very strict and discipline was meted out regularly. No one ever got hit or paddled.
And again, consent or no consent, a grown man spanking a teenage girl is fricking weird as hell and I don’t want my kid’s school employing anyone who fails to possess the brain power to know that’s a bad idea for himself.
