Our oven shite out on us tonight. I was cooking and went to turn it off, but it never turned off. Had to flip the breaker to get it off. When we turned it back on at the breaker it immediately turned on high in the oven. Gives us a reason to go back to gas though before we can’t anymore. Any recs? Want to stay under 2-2500. 30in. Would prefer gas top and electric oven but def want gas top. TIA!

We’re not allowed to ask questions here that could easily be googled. Seriously frowned upon.

I'd recommend the kind you keep wide open with the gas on.

I’d rather not read sponsored articles, thanks though.

Oven or cooktop? Both?

GE has generally failed me over the years on stuff that shouldn't break. Bosch was my dishwasher replacement. I presume LG or other Korean brands would be good, although our fridge icemaker in a Samsung died far, far too early.

Cooktops are not complicated, it's more about how the burners are situated. They literally provide a spark, a surface to cook on, and a way to move gas.

Ovens I didn't have a problem with our GE Monogram? convection ovens, but ovens (electric powered, not gas) are kind of a commodity.

Starting at roughly double his budget. If you want a more commercial style Z-Line and Thor should be in the budget for a 30".

I’ve enjoyed our GE Profile.

I especially like being able to start the oven with the GE app.

Don’t sleep on Maytag. My Maytag oven and gas range have performed flawlessly for over 15 years.

Find one without all the new "safety" features, like if you open the oven door to baste, the heat goes off until the door is closed again.

If you get a double oven and they tell you both ovens are convection, they're lying.

If they tell you the oven(s) can be used as either convection or the conventional way, don't take their word for it.

Avoid the wifi feature. If they tell you the electronics won't track how much gas and electricity you're using, the anti-energy freaks will try to make them liars at some point in the future. You know it's coming. I mean, hell, first cow farts, now the proposed gas stove ban. It's coming.

TLDR: I hate my "new" stove.

If in BTR area, call Stanton’s Appliance, Sherwood Forest Blvd. ask for Kathy, she knows more about appliances than anyone I know.

Whatever you do, check that it doesn't have the stupid safety feature where you can't use it in a power outage. Ours has some solenoid that disables the gas flow when there's no electricity so it's totally useless after hurricanes.

Your element grounded out. Simple fix.

But the best oven brand is Capital as far as reliability.

That's getting more common.
Bosch started it now you see electric solenoids more and more.

I suggest capital because it's simple. You can tear the oven apart with a screwdriver and some pliers. The ignition switches are all basic micro switches and I've never seen another brand that seemed like it was designed by technicians. It's so simple. The speed queen of ovens. I blew speed queen up on here over the last ten years. Capital is my oven pick.
