I´m no expert, but an aficionado whose opinion is not totally disdainable.

What would it cost to get it going?

Band aside, something tells me there´s something fishy.

My two fins.

Like the old joke about George Washington's axe:

"Well, we've replaced the handle a few times and that's a different head on it, but that's his axe."

Are you going to wear a watch that doesn't work? Not all watches can, or are worth fixing. My dad has a President that's got a worn out movement...it's pretty worthless outside of gold weight.

how much will it cost to make it fully functional?

I wouldn't do it, but I won't spend more than 200 tops
I'm done with that fancy crap

They got a lot of balls asking that much for a watch that will likely cost 2500 to fix

I would not buy it. It would be like going to a car lot and buying a car with body damage that didn't run. Seems like a huge money pit considering a regular tune-up cost me $600 last year and mine works. When all is said and done, you could have a lemon and be out $2k+ finding that out

Hard to tell from fuzzy pictures but if legit it is worth $1200. The dial has nice patina the hands have been replaced. The date wheel is replaced. The crown gaurds look good but the top right case lug looks over polished. No way to tell without high resolution scans. Could be totally fake.

It would not be in your old mans best interest to sell that watch for scrap gold prices.

On a watch like that if real even the faded insert is worth $900.

IIRC, replacing stuff diminishes the value. Say the lume wore out and you replaced the hands. That decreases the value

It's old. The bracelet gouged the lugs to the point where it has to be on bands, then the movement crapped out. It's a cool gold watch, but I think back in the day they used to make them 14k and not the higher quality golds they do now.

If you have a minute, I'll give you a second opinion, our consensus here is that is a weak watch that's seen better days. I wouldn't buy that in a month of Sundays. You're better off looking longer.

Why is everyone talking gold prices?

The small arrow places it in the late 60's. Tritium dial with luminova replacement hands.
Send me some quality pictures and I will give you $2000 for it.

Some people appreciate the quality (not this watch) and care that goes into building nice watches

The "swiss" dial if legit would bring close to $1200. If the movement is trash the parts are still worth more that the asking price. Assuming it is legit. Cannot tell from the fuzzy pictures.

Something about the small arrow on the GMT hand and the round crown guards are throwing me off.

I still think if you wanted a vintage tool watch, this would be a fair deal at best.

There were a few square crown gaurds with the small arrow I believe in the late 60's. But most of the pointed crown gaurds cases had a gilt dial. Hard to tell from the fuzzy pictures but does not appear gilt.
All this is just speculation though with the low resolution picture.
Op post high resolution pictures and we can tell exactly what it is. Also look between the lugs and post the first couple of numbers from the serial.
