According to what year you were born a birth year watch is something to consider. Having a nice watch that your child sees you wear everyday is a nice heirloom that will mean something when you pass it down.
Every watch is for sale except the Sea DwellerIi got for college graduation , that one will go to my oldest.

That Aquaracer you posted was slick.

Victorinox makes some nice watches for the money.

My father in law had a nice patak phillipe?
He died and his son loves wearing it. He was a really great guy and every time I see that watch I think of him.

Watches are a personal thing. I know dudes with far more money than I do who rock Casios, iPhone watches and Citizens. My dad does really well financially and I finally bought him a nice watch for Christmas. The most expensive watch he had purchased up to that point was a Citizen.

It's a hobby. It's dumb to judge someone off their watch because a lot of people just aren't into it.

My thing is that I have a lot of stuff I need to buy and I'm not an OT baller so I can't really afford anything nice at the moment. I wear a watch every day and I'd rather have 6 for the price of 1. I look at the under $150 watches on Amazon all the time.

Kill your brother-in-law and take the Patek.

Also, I'm just not a Rolex Submariner fan. I get the nostalgia and whatnot, but they're almost too basic these days as far as design goes. Take a look around and you can find dozens of shite brands that look almost the exact same.

I'm into watches but I have friends who are hardcore and got me into it. They're legit watch guys. They'll spend $10-$15k on watches, no big deal.

Every watch guy I know loves Orient watches. These are $300 watches. Check them out

Orient Bambino

Another good affordable brand is Vestal

Vestal Sophisticate

You can appreciate watches and not need to buy the something that costs thousands of dollars. There are interesting options for just a few hundred dollars. Orient is a good example, but there's lots of stuff out there. Even cheap timex's have some type of appeal.

I'm not in a place in my life where it would be reasonable to spend that kind of money on a watch, so I wear an old school military field watch that I bought for a few hundred, and I love it. It's got the personality that I like.

Don't listen to this. Other hand don't think it NEEDS to be a Rolex. Regardless you are about to spend to much on a watch. I do the same myself. Rule #1. If it doesn't nearly make your dick move when you put it on, don't buy it. It needs to make you smile everytime you look down at it to justify the price tag.

Tag Heuer gets a lot of hate, but if you don't like an AquaRacer you've got problems.

From who? The Carrera is one of the most critically acclaimed watches.

Same. Just got a Seiko Sumo recently. It's nice to me. Maybe one day I'll spend more, maybe not.

I am a sucker for the Omega's from the 1950's. I have a Seamaster and Constellation that are both real early production for those lines.

LINK

I also like the idea of buying a birth year watch as an heirloom.

They are kind of Yuppie watches, and some people will talk shite that they don't make their own in house movements and just use pumped up ETA or quartz movements. I probably would need to do more research on that last part, but I do think I remember it being a complaint that I heard, fair or not.

Kind of like that, except tags have a much lower price point where they start. You can get tags with quartz movements for a little over a thousand. Makes them easy fodder for attacks.

The Calibre 16 and Calibre 1887 movements are quality. In general the movements aren't that of Rolex but that's why they aren't priced like Rolex. Their are tiers to the watch game. I don't know any watch guys that dump on Tag. You can start comparing them to $15k watches and find disparities, but like I said, there are tiers to this. BMW doesn't make a shite car because it's not a Ferrari.
