I've only ever been able to use the 18-55mm that came with my stock Canon.

I paid about $600 for my Tokina 11-16. It's great.

My favorite lens is my 85mm 1.8.

It's like buttah.

I have a badass picture of Mike on my macbook I took with my camera. I'll post it later when I get home.

I think I had it on aperture mode. IDK wtf i was doing, but it worked.

70-200 2.8 and not even close!!!

I love this lens, use it 80% of the time.

I also have a 17-50 2.8 and a 10-24 3.5 wide angle

I went back to B&H and pulled my order history, I paid $659 for that lens in 9/11. It has had a hell of a price drop...

Get you a tilt-shift lens. I don't have one but they do create some unique photos. Especially time-lapse stuff. Best lens I have used is the Canon 100-400L.

Why, its a fad and an tilt/shift process can be done in Gimp/Photoshop in about 5 minutes.

well i still use auto most the time but occassionly i use the portrait mode for close ups and the sport setting for action shots

Those are still auto mode. Manual modes are "manual", AV, and TV. Learn how to use these. AV is the easiest to learn.

What would be a more useful lens to purchase, a macro lense or wide angle? I know it depends on what you phtograph more of but I like to take shots of everything, kids, baseball, landscapes....

If you want photos that look like toys running around it will do that. It will also take out the "bending" effect of tall objects. Like for architecture photos.

Anyone have experience with this lens? LINK

Seems to be well reviewed just about everywhere and it's not too expensive.

Yeah I know those are still auto...I guess it makes me feel better when I switch the dial to something specific that need to shoot.

I messed around with some aperature settings in A mode but havent pent much time with it. My problem is when I want to take a shot of something, I need to do it quickly and I just think it would take too long to mess with settings....I know Im lazy

Best lens made, but costs between $1500 and $2500 depending if it has image stabilization or not.

The one I have was $1700 and has great reviews. Tamron puts out some solid stuff. The only difference between mine and the $3000 Canon 70-200 2.8 is the focusing speed, mine is a tad slower.

Did the price come down? I have had mine 2-3 years and I thought I paid ~$650 for it...

Yep....the new version is out with a motor in the lens, but since I have the d7000 I don't need the lens with motor.

That is a great lens Antique....but I doubt I could get the little lady to go for it

Plus I'll mostly be shooting landscapes.

Tokina 11-16mm was my favorite lens when I had a crop body.

My current favorites are the Sigma 15mm fisheye, the Sigma 35mm f/1.4, and the Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L II.
