No illusion. We were on one of the ship's Zodiacs (inflatable boats with 25 HP outboard motors) shuttling to the shore just off the Antarctic Peninsula.

We were having to move past some small icebergs that had calved off a nearby glacier. One berg had flipped and revealed a hole in it in the shape of an arch. As we went past it I asked the boat's "driver" to stop so I could take a photo through the arch of our ship which was about a half mile away on the other side of the bay.

wow, those are good! This is my favorite photograph, not because it's technically all that great, but because of the subject matter and it was taken in their natural habitat. I call it "Eat it, it's good for you".
