But I've got the receipt and the original cluster, that's worth a few bucks

Got my daughter a 2006 with 145 k miles on it two years ago. Have put out less than $500.00 for minor repairs since. As long as it has been reasonably well maintained, that's a decent price for a fun little car. Also, not sure where you are but you can easily find an indie BMW repair shop that can do work for half of what a dealership would charge you.

You're gonna get so much dick in that car. Make sure to roll down all of the windows and sunroof, and ride around campus playing Darude Sandstorm all day. Also, get white sunglasses and a plastic white watch. You'll be beating all of the dicks off with a stick if you roll that heavy

Had an 06 335i and it was a fun car but repairs were a bitch. Had run flat tires at $1700 a set. I used a Indy BMW mechanic but it was still a shite ton for repairs. Oil change was over $80. $100+ at a dealer. When shite went down and I had issue with overheating, I was done with it. Towed it to dealer and traded it in. Fun car but repairs are never easy or cheap.

I'd take an older 5 series over a newer 3 series any day. Little cars have little use

Motor is actually a good one, assuming it's the I-6...can last a while if maintained well. I'd be afraid of electrical gremlins though.

My honest opinion is you'd be trying way too hard.

Only 160k+ vehicle you should think about buying is a Honda or Toyota. You're getting ripped off if you're paying more than 3k for a 160k+ mile car.

BMWs are bad used cars and expensive to fix and run...

I wouldn't take it if it was free..

I may have done that for a friend. 3000lb car with 450rwhp is a ton of fun.

Those base model E90 BMWs have proven to be fairly tough. The N52B25 is a great motor. Drivetrain-wise, it should be fine at that mileage if it's been even halfway decently taken care of. It's the electrical shite that'll get you on those cars. Motors, switches, sensors, etc. pretty much comes with the territory.

Each one has their strength. The E39 5-series I drove was an absolute beast on the highway. It would get up to speed and just sink right into the road to haul arse. I didn't really enjoy it in lower gears. My 3 series have been awesome city cars and also curvy country road cars. If I commuted a long way, then I'd go 5 all the way, but I live in the city and my 3 is perfect for that.

I'd will add that BMWs are probably the worst cars to own in New Orleans. They have rough suspensions to begin with, and two years on those roads just destroyed my car. New Orleans isn't kind to any car, but especially a bmw.

We own 2

1 is a Z4 coupe, 2008

2 is a 5 series 528i, 2013

Both were bought pre-owned and gone over by the mechanic, BMW, who we have used for years.

Don't care for the roadster but I am 6'5", my wife's car

Is my first BMW and don't think I'll ever purchase anything else

Our maintenance costs have been comparable to other non-BMWs

Find a BMW mechanic you really trust, have him go over it and tell you what to offer
