If you pull the gun, be prepared to shoot. If you shoot, shoot to kill. If he sees the gun getting pulled he is either going to rush you or run. If he is running don't shoot and immediately call the cops and file a report.

grownups would have gone to the administration of the apartment complex with a complaint instead of trying to enact their own sense of justice like an idiot.

Shooting at the legs is for the movies.

You pull a gun you better shoot to kill. Who knows? He might of had a gun too. You might miss trying to shoot at his legs and then he will try to kill you because you shot at him or wounded him. Better shoot to kill.

It's fricking pathetic that everytime a white person kills or hurts a black person today, it's automatically considered a racist hate crime and the white person is considered guilty. fricking pathetic...

Keep this comment to yourself. You are going to pull a weapon then you better be ready to pull the trigger

While each Stand Your Ground Law is slightly different, I'm not convinced that IF the guy kept coming at you & you did shoot him you'd have to apply this law; the self defense laws should suffice.

What's dumber? Shooting for the legs to "wing" him, or driving around with an unloaded shotgun in the back of the vehicle where you store your groceries?

If you don't like his ground rules, you work together to come up with a comprise like adults. Then you proceed to settle it with your knuckles and the loser shakes the winners hand like a real man.

Sheriff told me once that if someone breaks in and I shoot him as he's running away, just drag him inside before I call the cops

I was like what about CSI?

In Texas yes. If you told him to stop moving toward you and he continued you can shoot him.

Blasting someone with a shotgun at close range, anywhere on the boy, will most likely kill them.

But I understand your line of thinking. Glad it worked out though.

Why was your shotgun unloaded in the first place?
personal preference. I never store my weapons loaded.

A friend of my was killed when he was kid, bc his dad left his handgun loaded in his sock drawer.

It's a technicality, but if you do shoot someone, you want to say you that you shot him to stop the threat. The way you stop the threat happens to be to kill the guy, aka shoot for center mass and don't stop till he's down. That way, you don't seem like you wanted to kill the guy. Just stop the threat. A dead threat is a stopped threat.
