3 flights a week to Cancun are probably not what Amazon is looking for
Of course. But Airports add and subtract destinations all the time based on need. Nashville is adding a direct flight to Heathrow. That seems random, but clearly there was a reason that was feasible. So if Amazon needs a destination, then I'm sure an airport would be happy to add it.

Good point. Perhaps Houston would be a better option. The no state income taxes, infrastructure, and low cost of living in Texas are huge incentives.

I think Northern Kentucky/Cincinnati Airport would shock people if Amazon places it there. Amazon already has a major hub at the location. Would not shock me if it get placed in Kentucky.

Hmm sounds like NBR and the Cortana Mall may be what they are looking for.

Plus it's on the CATS bus route and our airport offers direct flights to FOUR cities with major hub airports!

Saw that too. But do Charlotte or Research Triangle or Nashville or other cities discussed have considerably better systems? I legitimately don't know.

I don't know either to be honest. I feel like they don't have a train system like MARTA does though from my limited time there. Atlanta's airport should put them above the other two and I would say we're even with Nashville when comparing local universities. Probably behind the Research Triangle in that category though. In all honesty, it probably comes down to who gives the biggest tax breaks to them.

Dallas will probably get it, the housing market will be even worse for buyers, and I'll have to gtfo

Ain't that the truth.

If Amazon's politics have any play into it and Dallas and Denver's bids are equal, Denver will get it.

Why do we want Amazon in Louisiana? It would just change the culture and try to impose more liberal values on us.

Robust university systems? Check, obviously. One of the highest university systems in the c I untry, including quality educational schools like Vanderbilt.

Vanderbilt, Belmont.......TSU?

Nashville also lacks any resemblance of some sort of public transportation.

I would be predicting Dallas as well, specifically off the SH 121 corridor in Collin or Denton county. This is where Toyota is moving to and Boeing.

The road infrastructure is there and the airport is huge with room to expand. Central location of USA with quicker flights to Latin and South America.

Although hot in Summer, weather is pretty stable.

Their are a ton of top state and nationally ranked public schools for kids. We are running out of houses, but have plenty of land North to build on.

Plenty of solid Universities to recruit from as well.

If it's a "Southern" city it's going to be Atlanta. Delta hub. Amazon want's direct flights to China, Japan and every country in Europe, not just a city that is finally getting flights to London. Lol, you can fly direct from Khartoum to London already. Also for a large multi-national like Amazon local state tax isn't really an issue. The bigger issue is the incentives to move there and EVERY city will give it to them so the whole, they're going to move to TX or TN because of a business friendly environment is pretty moot. Try that for some small company suckers. No one is moving to fricking Nashville.

Laugh up. But, the location of a major airport with cheap land next to it plays a major part of the decision.

You laugh but from a geographical standpoint it's a great spot.

I didn't even think of that. That's huge! Maybe the OT can come up with and submit a proposal for NBR.

$$$$$$$

But seriously, it has no chance of happening. Louisiana wouldn't even be on the long list. If Amazon was asked to list their top 49 states (excluding Washington of course) for HQ2, Louisiana wouldn't even make the cut.

Yeah Nashville makes no sense IMO.

The more I think about it, I think you're right. Atlanta makes a lot of sense. Wouldn't surprise me at all if Amazon opened there.

Dallas is the answer with Denver being a strong candidate

Dallas does already have a sizable Amazon operation in place, so they maybe would just expand or possibly relocate from their current location.

It's gonna be Dallas. A number of large employers have made Plano (suburb of Dallas) their home. It's a great area, with cheap land, and excellent infrastructure. High quality construction companies are everywhere building new HQs daily. Dallas has a large airport with an airline hub. It's a growing city, with a high income labor force that's continuing to grow with it. It has SMU in the city, UT Austin only 3 hours away, Texas A&M only 4 hours away. Plus the allure of offering employees their salary income tax free may lower salary costs for the company in the future. I believe there would be excellent tax benefits for Amazon itself as well
