Make your large purchases soon, you may be paying more before long.

A bill to raise the state's sales tax a penny has passed the Louisiana House floor Thursday.

I have a problem with everyone calling it a "one penny" increase. It is a "one percent" increase. I think describing it as a penny is trying to minimize the perception (with dumb LA people) of the impact of the increase.

Tax cheat. Serious not serious.

ETA:

LA Consumer Use Tax

There is no logical difference between cheating on your sales tax and cheating on any other income taxes, except most people turn a blind eye to the former while criticizing the later.

It is actually a 25% increase. It is going from 4% to 5%.

According to the article, it is a one penny increase unless I missed something.

Yeah, I never thought about that. I guess one penny on the dollar is the best way.

It's only a matter of time before they start taxing that too. 28 states already do.

Expires in 18 months.

Eta: Sales taxes are the only fair taxes. Illegals and undocumented (cash only) workers also pay when they spend.

It's been proposed by the governor and is heading to committee in a few days.
