Wow. This is well past out of control.

Last week, a review of Oklahoma audits from 2007 to 2014 brought to light disturbing incidents and major discrepancies in the state’s civil forfeiture operations. Civil forfeiture is a law enforcement tool which enables, without criminal charges, the seizure of property, which police and prosecutors suspect has been involved in, or is the result of, criminal activity.
quote:
In Beaver County, an assistant district attorney decided that a home that had been forfeited by his office would make the perfect residence. The prosecutor lived in the house rent-free for five years, even billing the DA’s office for the cost of maintenance and utilities, despite a court order that the home be sold at auction.
An assistant district attorney used $5,000 in forfeiture funds to make student loan payments. The DA’s office for Washington and Nowata counties proffered the absurd argument that the expense was justified because that particular prosecutor handled mostly drug cases.
In at least a dozen cases, forfeited money, vehicles, and firearms had not been properly inventoried, and were missing.
In Okmulgee and McIntosh counties, seized money was actually spent by the district attorney’s office before it was forfeited. In another district, money was listed as properly forfeited even though no forfeiture cases had ever been filed seeking forfeiture of those funds.
Wow. This is well past out of control.

Civil forfeiture is one of the most fricked up domestic issues in our country. This is the kind of shite that needs riots.

I have never met a lib or con that was for it either. I would like to see the practice stopped.

Yep. Civil forfeiture should be low hanging fruit for a presidential candidate. It is something that unites pretty much the entire country.

I don't see anything wrong here. They took money that would have been used for drugs or terrorism and put it to a good use. These guys are the heroes we need to get this country back on track.

Sounds like a liberal wonderland. Steal assets and funds from citizens and give it to the govt.

Militant Police Forces full of Billy Badasses
POS Immigration
All more important to the average American than what some dipshits are doing in the Middle East, but hey, Bruce Jenner is wearing a dress.

In La., they will illegally seize property, have a local news station run an investigative report on it, and then get a clean audit a month later.

Outrageous is a bit extreme, I think they're just doing what needs to be done to save their city. Would you call Batman "outrageous"?
And there's nothing illegal about it, it was done by the police and the DA. They fight against crime, not for it.
