The poor bastard at the trauma center, bees die when they use their sting and leave the barb in their victim.

Question while the topic is bees; what ever came of the African killer bees?

They can't survive harsh winters so they are mostly stuck in the south west US. This is why they were unlikely found in this case in Ohio.

They actually have had a hard time establishing in east Texas because of the sheer number of European bees out competes them.

Beekeepers rotate their queens to prevent hybridization in their hives.

They have lemon trees in Ohio?

And how do you climb high into one? They aren't very tall.

mowed over a yellow jacket nest when I was about 10, got stung 73 times, was determined not to cry, my Dad was checking me over and putting something on my legs, after about 30 minutes I had to let some water go, tough guy be damned, still had to get back out there and finish mowing(2 and 1/2 acres)

I will defer to the fire department on lots of things but the species of bee is not one of them.

The likelihood they were Africanized is almost 100% with that many stings.
