Mine was installed in 2004, still going. Wife wants a new one, but no reason to replace something not broke

Same. I'd buy them all. Our dishwasher hasn't worked in years. We just stopped using it.

I have an Insinkerator with physical knobs and buttons, house was built in 1993. I refuse to get anything else until it shits the bed.

You prob throw the dishes in still covered in shite and clog your drain and filters. User error. I buy cheap ones for my rentals that last longer than 2-3 years.

Some appliance manufacturers like to put parts that frequently fail in inaccessible locations like car manufacturers. Or you have to remove a bunch of parts to get to the issue and when you put it back together, either cause more issues or need to replace other parts like gaskets when you take an item apart.
I was AMAZED how well BMW hid the freaking battery on my wife's car. They are designing these machines to fail and for the average Joe to not be able to repair them.

For whatever reason I read this as "retarded mule" lol

I work on the pieces of shite just about everyday. Had a ole boy from Cutoff cuss me up and down a few months ago because I told him he needed a new dishwasher. It was a 3 year old Bosch and he said I didn't know my head from my arse. Saw the dick head two days later having another delivered. They are all garbage.
If you don't mind telling, what was wrong with it that couldn't be replaced/maintenanced?
Also, any brand that you recommend?

We rinse meticulously and check the filter (which is always totally clean), and they still suck. We’ve had one that lasted just under 4 years and one that lasted 25 months. We’ve had our current one for 3 years. We tried repairing the 2 year old one. They replaced the control panel and pump, and it still didn’t work. At this point, it’s luck if they work for more than a few years.

I have a Bosch and never use it. My wife will put stuff in it but I would rather wash by everything hand. There are always things I couldnt put in it and have to hand wash anyway so I just do it all.
That damn machine takes like 3 hours to do a load.
I would rather do by hand, dry and put it away in 10 minutes.
But if you want one that will last go find a green or yellow one from the 80's. They are easy to repair and will out last your grandchildren.

Cheap appliances typically are the best

I’m sick of buying a new dishwasher every 2-3 years now
I can’t imagine what you are doing to dishwashers. We bought a Kenmore when we built our house, lasted 16 years.
We have a Whirlpool now,going on 9 years,works fine.

The one before this one was a Bosch. Paid almost a thousand dollars because it was supposed the be the best on the market, super quiet, and had every feature you’d ever want.
My Bosch is a champ. Replaced a couple minor parts on it myself (button panel/rack organizer), but it is used and abused. I bought the one with the least amount of features though intentionally (and was still in the dB range I wanted).

Facts. They all use tiny DC motors now. They used to have huge ac motors. To be more efficient they ask became junk .

Pretty much every kitchenaid dishwasher leaks from the diverter. For most people the volume is so low you never notice it. Others will have their floors get ruined. Easy fix though.

Any company that charges two diagnostic fees is a scam.
You pay the diagnostic fee and then labor.
Hell I include a half hour labor under diagnostic so most jobs I just knock out for $99 + parts cost.
Harder jobs or return trips I tack on labor. I don't bill by hour or whatever I bill based on the job. If it's a really hard job I charge a lot more.

My parents still have a dishwasher they bought in 1987. Not one repair needed. Dead serious

Some times it is just who is doing the work. I was just using round numbers as a for instance.
Some unprofessional ones in the trade excluding your self will ride the repair ride until the cost of repair exceeds the purchase price and women and the elderly are the ones who get taken advantage of.
Then there are the ones that do warranty work that will bill like a hospital or doctor’s office to get the bill sky high and negotiate down to a fair price or contract price after the bill comes in.

I’m way late to the thread. But I’ll ask anyways.
How many cycles do you run a week?
I have 2 kids and run it once a week. My wife and I hand wash a lot of dishes instead.
