Nothing more frustrating than uninsured drivers

BIL got smacked last night on his way home from work in the early morning hours. Totaled his truck and messed him up pretty bad. And of course the little shite that ran the red light and hit him had no insurance. He was able to just walk away from the scene. Not even sure he got a ticket.
TL;DR- If you cause an accident and have no insurance you should have your license revoked and get locked up for a few months. My family is lucky the BIL is still here. He has a brand new baby boy that was born just last month.

If you drive a lot in cities like Houston, Los Angeles and Phoenix, you're bound to be hit by an uninsured driver at some point. I certainly have.

But our politicians in La have no balls and the ignorant class doesn't care enough to change anything. The few that have tried to do anything about it get called racist.
Fcking scum. If you get pulled over and don't have insurance there should be penalties of extreme nature, including possibly giving up your driving rights and vehicle.

Gotta have uninsured and underinsured motorist insurance. There's enough fricking morons driving around with bare minimum insurance policies it's terrifying.

Tell me about it.. This was years ago (2003ish, 2004ish), I was on the highway heading home for lunch when this girl, who was in the turning lane, failed to yield. Evidently she was looking down at her radio, the car slowly turned and kept going. I hit my brakes, but it all happened so fast and she hit me on the front drivers side steering me right into a utility pole.
She actually had insurance, but she got it a few days before the wreck and her insurance didn't cover her yet. That whole situation was a bitch to deal with.

Filthy poors without proper insurance and Illegal Aliens driving, who are in even so much as a fender bender, even if they are not at "fault," should be immediately humiliated and cuffed, taken to a police station to sign their citation before being released. Their cars should be seized and destroyed. This measure would provide the proper incentive for people to make responsible decisions on whether they are "entitled" to drive a car or not.

Happened to me. Cops came and everything and the motherfricker wasn't even arrested. He paid me 500. Cost me over 4000 to fix

Most of the people with no insurance have suspended licenses, which is why they can't get insurance. I honestly don't know what the solution is. Our premiums in LA are so high because we have so many uninsured drivers. So many drivers are uninsured because our premiums are so high.
If you go one day without insurance on a vehicle you have registered then you get a $125 fine and a flag on your license. Can't renew your license until you pay your fine and clear the flag. License expires and insurance cancels. Then they have to pay the flag, pay to renew license, and pay higher insurance because you now have a gap in coverage.
But yes, it is frustrating as hell to get hit by an uninsured driver and even more frustrating to have to play $10-50/month for uninsured motorist coverage.

Why people don't do this is beyond me. And in addition a million at least on an umbrella.
If someone with 10k or 0 in insurance and 1/ totals your vehicle and 2/ makes you unable to work at least you have insurance yourself. Sure it sucks you have to pay that extra premium but can you afford not too? Can you afford to miss a month or more of work?

If they would actually make penalities harsh for driving on suspended license and no insurance then maybe we wouldn't have this problem. The good have to suffer for the dumbasses and shrugging it off is not the answer.
I doubt BR will ever pass a law to fix the insurance crisis in our state though. We're becoming a poor, welfare dependent state that is run by bureaucrats.

Serious question because I don't know... what happens to you if you get put in that situation? Does your own insurance typically cover your medical/car bills? Would they then sue the guilty party with no insurance?

Had 3 sisters hit my parked truck so hard it threw it back 20 feet. It was totaled out. Of course, they had no insurance and the driver had a suspended license, and outstanding warrants. All 3 go to the hospital with injuries, and of course sue me. My insurance settled with all 3. What a fricked up system we have.

Mom got hit by an illegal alien (undocumented worker for you snowflakes). No insurance. Had prior run-ins with Sulphur PD...total POS.
